Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I have just realised that if you are orbiting* the wrong way for the settlement you are aiming for, you can simply half-loop and it will reenter an orbit going the other way with no bother.

* yes I know you all hate Supercruise Assist, I ain't having that debate, although this is an example of how it's more useful than it looks once you've figured out the weird choices it makes.

what?

I use SCA all the time. And a docking computer. Heresy! :D

I don’t hate it as such.

It is just that figuring out how to make it work well enough to be a benefit to me has never seemed worthwhile especially given how it crashed me when I first tried it when it was added to the game.

I don't hate it. I used it for most of my almost 2 years playing this game. I still use it on the Stargazer, which is my material collector and occasional bubble exploration vessel. Those signals are sometimes quite far out, in particular the high grade emissions. Using it also enables me to scan other ships for data mats without me missing my destination.

Both AutoDock & SCA Assist are indispensable for those of us who multi-task between game, work and other RL challenges regularly - often gives me the time to take a quick break / make a cup of tea etc… currently I’m using a Viper with both for FC-based exploration & exobiology - Rules are meant to be broken, creatively :)

I fired up Elite last night for the first time since September, I installed the various "17" updates and all seemed well until a mini furball broke out at my feet. It seems the cat instigated a brawl between my Toy Fox Tierre and my wife's Schipperke, little dog fights always sound much worse than they are. Needless to say, it scared the crapola out of me as I didn't know the three of them were even there.

Sounds like an on-foot Thargoid CZ taking place :D

Looks to me you got a lemon of a carrier, I'd take her back to the dealer and get some warranty work done. I think a nice Mariachi band on the promenade would be nice too.(y)

Indeed :D ...currently restocking fuel, but I will take the mobile home in for a service when back in the bubble!

*btw, snapping pics of ships outside stations is yet another reason to not fear using autodock imho ;]
