Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

January sales continue...

Everyone, please buy more ships so that they feel less of a need to send marketing emails. Thanks!

Hey CIG, in case you missed it.

I got an email from CIG saying that this is my last chance to get a Cutter Rambler -- a starter ship. Apparently the Cutter Scout is also limited. Since when were starter ships restricted like this? Has CIG's system of artificial scarcity gone too far?

I've no idea if this is true, but I'd love it to be ;)

If you do decide to play, DO NOT interact with bartenders just to be safe. For the past few patches there has been a very strange bug where interacting with bartenders and some other NPCs can cause your character to inherit NPC behaviours and, in the worse case, completely lose control and essentially become an NPC, soft-bricking your character.

I did kinda wonder if the 'posession' incidents were players getting inputs from another entity.

That'd be some Subsumption ;)

My dear Golgot, do you think that somehow players interacting with bartenders subsume, separate, sublime and somehow splice their own identity with that of a silent, surreptitious and possibly suppurating handbag?

Seems nobody can log in to the RL test currently, but here's another highlight from when they could ;)

This is good news. Obviously all these are the signs of a very ambitious and perfectionist developer, doing what no one has ever done before. And not at all just sheer incompetence. I would totally throw money at this. Two Idris please.

From uber fan to loyal employee to salty technically-still-employed-but-not-doing-anything. (AFAIK he still is officially the editor of Jump Point magazine for CIG, correct me if i'm wrong).

They never clarified it, but he's definitely left the company. Just slowly slipped off the Jump Point role a few years back.

Here are a few things he's said in recent years:

I'm not working on Star Citizen anymore, but when I was I never saw anything that made me think Chris was anything but genuine in wanting to make Squadron 42 his dream game. We'll see how it ends up!

We did a homage when I worked on Star Citizen, too! It was to celebrate the release of ‘Arena Commander’, a game in a game.

On Linkedin he's still Captain of Community Delusions or whatever tho ;)

Hmmm.. speaking of Arena Commander, could it be that was one of the early red flags we don't normally think of as being a red flag?

I mean, they delivered something, but they put a lot of effort into something that wasn't actually part of the deliverables.

Speaking of which, any news on Theaters of Snore? You remember, that small mode that wouldn't take much time or resources to deliver!

Replication Review:

This guy got restored much earlier than others nearby, and with no armistice zone re-established he merrily ran around blatting and looting everyone ;)

EDIT: Oh lols. The armistice lag has implications for ships 'n stations too ;)

Might all resolve if/when they speed up the recovery etc, minus all the testing logging. But wouldn't be super surprised if some related shenanigans make it to live ;)

There's a server where all the Idrises live, their bellies polished by attentive NPCs, awaiting the day when they can spoil SQ42 for us...

(Occasionally one too many pledges happen and the other servers must combine to contain all the Idrisy glory...)
