Make a selfish DLC for your country

Not a Flying Fox but I would love the Ghost Bat. They look so cool and are very different from the Species we already have
They are cool too. The reason I chose flying fox though is they are pretty common in zoos here, I remember Adelaide zoo had a really huge flying fox enclosure when I was a kid. Not sure if they still do.

I'd be happy with either

Edit: if they are even kept in more than just one ZoošŸ˜…
Ghost bats were always my most wanted bat, they’re awesome. And yeah, they’re kept in several different places in Australia - I’ve seen them at the Adelaide Zoo, Cleland Wildlife Park, Gorge Wildlife Park and the Alice Springs Desert Park, and I know some other zoos have them too.

Not anymore unfortunately, the only bats they’ve had recently are ghost bats.

Sweden scenery pack: scene theme would be rustic camping and outdoorsy kind of props.

Okay, I think I can pick some animals fortunately.
Here we go, Korean animal pack.

1. Yellow-throated marten: thought I'd need to put at least one carnivore that isn't cat or dog.
2. Common raccoon dog: Could be swapped with Leopard cat.
3. Korean water deer: Male has a pair of fangs instead of antlers. Globally vulnerable, almost a pest here. You won't believe how vocal they are.
4. Korean hare: What? I like rabbits.
5. Eastern great egret: pretty common sight. You can see one looking into the lake, and you approach its around five-step radius and it won't mind. Can be swapped with Eastern spot-billed duck, or common pheasant.
6. Long-tailed goral: One of our Natural monuments. We run a program to release and rehab them too.
7. Spotted seal: We have some resident population on the island at the western coast. Another one of our Natural monuments. Also a mascot of my hometown.
8. Seoul pond frog(E): Yeah, name clearly shows this one is endemic to Korea. Endangered and protected. Could be swapped with…Oriental fire-bellied toad, Chinese pond turtle, or Amur ratsnake. I really couldn't decide here.

And if I'd make a scenery pack, I'd go marten, goral, egret, hare, frog.

Honorable Mentions:
  • Siberian musk deer: Lost to water deer.
  • Least weasel: Lost to marten.
  • Nothern fur seal: Yeah, this one is from a little more…North.
  • Pyrocoelia rufa(WtE): Fireflies! I heard one zoo occasionally holds Luciola lateralis, but Pyrocoelia is more popular, I think.
  • Reddish-black myotis(WtE): We call them red bats, or golden bats. Unfortunately I don't really think they'd be good for captivity though, so I ditched the idea.
  • Chinese softshell turtle: E or H, didn't really matter, lost to frogs.

šŸ¤” I wonder if any Zoos outside of Australia have them? At least no EAZA Zoos it seems

🄰 That Bat is so cute and all the other Animals are awesome too. Would also quite enjoy the Horse in my ParksšŸŽ

Canada Pack šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

1. Black bear… except instead of just ā€œblack bearā€ maybe the Spirit Bear (or Kermode Bear) of the BC coast, for educational value. The black and brown morphs could be the alternate colours instead of the other way around.

This would be an awesome pack but I would much prefer a generic ABB with morphs for the Spirit Bear which last time I checked is just leaucistic.

i hope we do get another horse one day, especially one with different coat options. the one i suggested has some lovely different colourations

I have lived in China for some time so I think I my bend it as my country then 😜

1. PĆØre David’s deer
2. Chinese alligator
3. Golden snub nosed monkey
4. Pallas cat
5. Kiang
6. Tufted deer
7. Markhor
WTE: Red and white Giant flying squirrel

This is virtually impossible for me now, but if I bend the rules I can easily make a "New Zealand ZOO Animal Pack":
  • Sumatran tiger.
  • Geoffroy's spider monkey.
  • Waterbuck.
  • Hamadryas baboon.
  • Serval.
  • Brolga.
  • Bolivian squirrel monkey.
  • Tuatara (E).
I make one for you
New Zealand species pack:
Paradise Shelduck
Takahe
Masked Lapwing
Pied Cormorant
Australian Pelican
Nankeen Night Heron
Straw-necked Ibis
Royal Spoonbill
Kakapo
New Zealand Fur Seal
Southern Elephant Seal
Giant Weta (E)
Tuatara (E)
Auckland Green Gecko (E)

North American Animal Pack 2:
  • 7 habitat species
    • North American Black Bear
    • North American Porcupine
    • Black-footed Ferret
    • Ringtail
    • Burrowing owl
    • White-nosed Coati
    • North American river otter
  • Walk-through exhibit
    • 3 species of hummingbird
  • Signs for each species
  • Enrichment items
    • Water slide: Usable by all otter species + pinnipeds
    • Small prey toy (2 variants - frog + mouse): Usable by ferret, burrowing owl, otter, ringtail, and small mammalian carnivores already in-game!
  • Additional foliage
I know there's an argument that this region could definitely use more scenery, but ultimately I think I would prefer to get all of these species if I'm being real abbout it!

USA pack for me would be:

Sea otter (doing well now, but a "back from the brink" success story)
Walrus (not just in the US or north American, but a common sight in zoos)
Red wolf (highly endangered animal)
Black bear (not remotely endangered, but a common sight in many US zoos)
black-footed ferret (the ultimate back from the brink of extinction story and still very endangered)
Coral snake (gorgeous animal--I could do a whole pack of north American herps alone, though).
Bighorn sheep (often forgotten but an iconic animal)
Musk ox (not endemic but they should have been in the arctic pack, imo)
Brown pelican (another animal that almost went extinct here and came back)
Whooping crane (ditto)
Nene goose (good call, OP, as this easily overlooked animal is very endangered and iconic for Hawaii)
Hawaiian monk seal (another highly endangered animal, endemic to Hawaii)

Runner up: Tule elk, a lesser known subspecies of elk (Cervus canadensis nannodes) found only in California.

I did not include the northern elephant seal, because I haven't ever seen one in a zoo (I think a few have ones that were injured and couldn't be rehabilitated), and (IMO) their foraging habits (females spend months at sea deep diving) would be impossible to accommodate.

Don't know if the crane, pelican, and the nene goose count as "flying" birds, but larger waterfowl tend to have flight feathers trimmed (pinioned) on one wing in US zoos, which is controversial, but it keeps them from flying off if in more open habitats. Other large bird species that can actually fly, like flamingos and mute swans, have been used in the game already too. Mind you, that goes for raptors kept in zoos too, and the game has not provided any of those thus far.

Considering where I am, I’m gonna make an animal pack. Not for a nation, but for the Caribbean. To fit with this thread’s theme this will be selfishly what I would like to see in Planet Zoo. Also as to go with the other rules, no fully aquatic or flying animals.

  1. I couldn’t make a Caribbean pack without it: the Caribbean Flamingo. While I understand others don’t care for it, it’s too iconic and beautiful for me not to have it in game.
  2. For another pink bird, I’m gonna go with the roseate spoonbill.
  3. Another iconic bird for the region, got to have the Brown Pelican.
  4. For one of two Caribbean reptiles, the cayman island blue iguana. Got to match the pink with the blue.
  5. For a mammal for this pack, I’m gonna go with an invasive species! The African green vervet is a monkey species released on a number of islands. I would like to show more invasive species in Planet Zoo.
  6. Here is one of the more important conservation stories, the Cuban crocodile will be one of the more unique species in the game.
  7. Another animal to add to the theme of conservation, the domestic goat. If the green monkey represents how introduced species can cause habitat damage, the goat represents how our farming can cause more damage.
  8. For the exhibit animal: the Caribbean hermit crab feels like the right way to go.
