Gankers at CG Stations… how is this STILL a thing?!

Got hammered whilst flying all around the station
You approached and dropped from SC from the back of the station? Best way to land is to align with the mailslot while in supercruise, then just make it into the station in a fast straight line. Aligning with the mailslot in SC also takes you off the ecliptic making your travel faster and revealing someone tailing you with malicious intents.

Chaff is only effective against gimbal and turret mounts on ships, I have no idea if it works against station stuff, if he was using fixed mount weapons the chaff would do nothing.
TBH I don’t know what the hell was going on. I’m going to go back and see if I can replicate if I have time later. I was deploying chaff to throw him off, not the station. If he was using gimballed or turret, one would have expected at least one chance station hit through use of chaff mid-volley. Same with fixed. Nobody hits fixed 100% of the time.

Unless, of course, being content to someone else is reciprocal and consensual. That is to say, gankers are your content🙂
To be fair, I’m all for PVP - I went to the station looking to help defend CG players so was up for a scrap. I just wasn’t expecting a situation where a player had carte-blanche to attack me in the NFS, and I was immediately killed for returning fire, and judging by the six or seven CMDRs huddled inside the station, they may also have taken fire on their way in with no possible recourse, and obviously wanted to avoid a rebuy. Having looked at the possible causes for this it seems that my powerplay pledge might have been a factor.

There are a few ways they could go about it.

Are you pledged to a powerplay faction, by any chance? If you're pledged to a faction and your attacker is pledged to an enemy faction the station won't intervene in them attacking you.
It was this. I was pledged to the people’s princess. Thanks CMDR o7

Should have checked before posting. What a dope.

there are still gankers in openmode that can get inside the station and hide around certain areas of stations to target players.but the auto defence system can not hit them. it was report many many moons ago but like everything else it was ignored by Fdev.

"getting inside the station and hiding around certain areas of stations to target players, but the auto defense system can not hit them." is considered an exploit and a bannable offense by fdev. Record, warn, then report with the video evidence.

i do, i use nvidia gefore experiene to record bad players, i just don't go into one that much these days i stick with the squadron antics in pg mode

you can deploy weapons yes, but your start racking the fines up doing so, but most gankers are in their millions so a few 100 cr fines isn't going to bother them.

You don't rack up fines for having hardpoints deployed at space stations and planetary ports, only for actually firing them.

You get fines at odyssey surface settlements for having them deployed, and bounties for firing them.

I'm confused about how using the natural environment to avoid fire is an exploit. If I hide behind a wall in a ground CZ to avoid incoming fire is that also an exploit? Do you have evidence that FDev consider this a bannable exploit?

I am, of course, asking as a rule abiding CMDR who does not want to accidentally fall foul of the TOC.

I think he's talking about people getting inside the station geometry, like those tf2 exploits where you could get under the map.

[...] Station does nothing, cops just fly around.

[...] fire at ganker.

Stations will not fire at a target if its not being threatened. This means if shots HIT the station or something gets killed by shots or reckless flying, they will then engage that target. They will simply assign fines otherwise.

Most likely, ganker popped chaff, and/or your shots missed and hit the station, thus station lit you up.

Next time if shot by a ganker in station, use geometry as cover and force them to hit the station.

omg, the name of the game is literally Elite DANGEROUS and ppl complaining about get killed in 2024, grow up ur brain kiddo, u literally need only a g5 prismatic shields and a g5 engines, plot a route away and wake out.. whata hell guys

A ganker inside a space station shooting folks. It's an exploit yes. But how many of us can get to record it as evidence? Really!
We ain't all whizz tech heads!
Surely the stations should have a timer if hardpoints are deployed inside a station? Or better still some turrets inside that can take out anyone who infringes the timer on the basis their camping in order to take advantage of of this exploit

P.S. Try solo and the problem goes away.
This massively multiplayer online game is almost completely devoid of other players you can encounter, and the vast, vast majority of players are deprived from one of the core features of an MMO: Encountering other players. And there is one, and only one, reason for this.

And nothing is being done about it.

One could even call ED a "pseudo-MMO" for this reason.
