Can we leave 1 Titan alive ?

Dear commanders !

Having thargoid invasion systems allows for 5 Biotech Conductors / Exquisite Focus Crystals / Modified Embedded Firmware mission rewards and I can stack 3 for cyclops, 2 for Basilisks.

This is a very fun and efficient way (for me at least) to collect manufactured materials.

I also like the versatility of pve content ax adds to the game.

Could we just leave one Titan alive, assuming a live Titan is a precondition for thargoid invasion state.

Apologies if this has been asked before, I spent 5 min searching !

They don't seem to repair the damage done to them at all - the ones which aren't Taranis took measurable but negligible damage before Thursday and kept it at the start of this cycle. So eventually they're going to run out of health no matter how many people agree not to attack the last one.

On the other hand, they've got quite a lot of health and the ones which aren't Taranis are probably quite a bit tougher, so it might be another 4-6 months before they're all gone.

Unlikely to occur if you ask me. Unless everyone is really tired of shooting up the Titans by the time it’s down to the last one, or something else happens to make it(and maybe some of the others) persist, I suspect they will just be “cleaned up” naturally over time.

Doesn’t mean there won’t be others to be found elsewhere. The question of whether there will be related missions, however, is another.

We'll all be doing powerplay after this anyway!

If it helps to know, at present we are still not actually sure how to approach some of them feasibly! Starting with the easiest:
  • M. Leigong is uniquely easier than the others in the context of clearing its systems, due to its sparse layout, to the extent that we had a possible plan a while back to clear it away without the help of Spire site progress at all. Indeed that was before the Matrix sites were introduced in update 16, the appearance of which disrupted the plan by making those systems unassailable until update 17, but either way T. Leigong is likely to be next.
  • M. Hadad technically is second-easiest to clear because its final Spire site is also its final system. Once cleared, T. Hadad could be considered technically hardest due to being around 40000 Ls from arrival, but honestly that feature of difficulty is far beneath the clearance.
  • M. Taranis was third by difficulty, although first by popularity and within feasibility well enough to do it when we did. Having used its Spire sites in November, we are unable to use them again, so it is well that the artificial recovery has not given T. Taranis too much resistance!
Beyond that it gets very difficult in the context of clearing all systems, but luckily it seems we need only reach a final ten or so. I think M. Oya and M. Raijin were vaguely even in terms of their finale, but with M. Oya having a more well-defended head-start.

M. Indra has its final Spire site in twelfth place, and M. Cocijo is the worst with seventeenth place. Even if we need not a full clearance, the latter still would need some luck with Alert prevention just for Spire clearance to leave seven systems and reach the Moderate resistance!

It's been a long-term wish/hope of mine that all these new Thargoid-related assets and game mechanics that have been introduced as part of the war narrative are going to be kept around in some form or another, even as the conflict fades into the background.

It certainly doesn't sit right with me that all of these development efforts and potential player experiences are just going to be chucked in the bin to never be seen again. I'm reasonably confident that it won't be, but I'm also prepared to be disappointed in that respect.

My suspicion would be that unless Maximum damage resistance is incredibly high compared with High or Extremely High, there's a good chance of brute-force attacks directly to overwhelm that resistance being considerably more efficient than trying to trim most of them down to ~10 LY radius first. Leigong is a possible exception where a heavy attack on its Alerts in the remainder of this week and outer Controls next week could push it back into High if that was necessary.

I guess we'll know more on how the stronger damage resistances apply fairly quickly once attacks go elsewhere after Taranis.

Let’s just see what happens with Taranis first. I am not getting too good of a feeling that it’s “all going to be fine”. Even taking eagerness to see players play with that new content into account, Frontier seem… oddly eager to get players involved as much as they can. And I don’t know if that’s going to turn out as a good thing…

Manufactured mats are nice until you've upgraded, then I guess you can use them for what exactly? Synth?

If Frontier wants players involved in fighting the Titans, fine. Create an exception/forgiveness for notoriety on a merit basis vs time basis when fighting Titans. Plenty will get involved.

unless all your bins are topped up - you can always use them to trade laterally for something you miss - 90 Biotech conductors will trade for 15 Improvised components.
