VR headset to replace G2 reverb

I'll be hanging on to my G2 until it stops working... Still seems a nice headset to me.
For the price, and it’s age now, I agree. I think it’s an outstanding HMD even if it was tied to WMR which many disliked/despised even prior to the decision to drop it.

With the way VR headsets evolve I’m happy to wait until I have to change and see what’s available at that point. Unfortunately I expect a viable modern alternative will be way beyond the mid tier price point the G2 did so well to fit into.

Comming from a Vive to an Index, yesterday I spent my first time in game with my Bigscreen Beyond. I was a bit worried as the small pancakes can be blurry around the edge and prone to glare, especially when large menus are on screen. It was mostly a nonissue, Micro Oled so the game looks great. Performance seems fine on my 4080. The higher res helps tone down the aliasing some compared to index, be nice when we have higher res hmds to sqwash that.

I'd wager a guess that even when we get to the point of resolution being so high one can no longer make out any jaggies, aliasing will still be visible in many situations; High contrast lines will still be rendered non-contiguous where geometry is thin, or where texture resolution is insufficient, even then.

(EDIT: We'll also rely on foveated rendering at that point, to deal with the performance drain that comes with such high resolution; And pixels blinking on- and off in the lower resolution periphery should still be visible, even after blurring it.)
