Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Speaking of scenery, what are pieces yall would definetly want before supports end?

Personally i really want:
-Small amount (like 2-3 differnt types maybe) of flexicolor cars to fill parking lots with something else than the safari jeeps or the incredibly piece heavy workshop models.
-different font pieces, especially small ones since its almost impossible to make signs that arent obnoxiously large
-Placeable "ground textures" similar to the mulch pieces, having those for sand and other stuff would be super usefull for many different scenerios.
Different fonts would be great. Having just the two types we have is limiting. I know there's Large and Small sizes for the letters, but this would honestly be the best place to have scaling in the game.

on an unrealistic want, I'd love statues of every single habitat animal in the game.

So if we’re looking at something that would be completely unexpected, easiest to make, popular species and can still sell decently, Coastal is back on the table. Beach wood theme scenery, Walrus, Pelican, puffin as the wildcard, sea otter and an exhibit box species. This would act as our “North America Revisit” just like the last 3 packs revisiting continents.
So I was thinking of this, and wondering if we could combine it into a larger animal pack. We could do coastal, but I was thinking of doing a “waterside” pack. I know it is close to others, but I think it has a good chance of adding very requested animals.

  1. Walrus
  2. Otter
  3. Pelican
  4. Puffin, wanted to keep this part of the list the same, represents the ocean and covers Europe and NA. Also a cool oddball.
  5. Debrazzas monkey, a true monkey species for Africa. These guys live around water and swamps and are known to swim. This would be one of the oddballs of the pack.
  6. I’m gonna be greedy and say a duck, either the white faced whistling or the mandarin duck. If one pack could have two birds I think we could shoot for three!
  7. Another oddball pick, and the ungulate of the pack. The Peere David’s deer is another cool animal to add to the water theme.
  8. If I could I would want to do something like the grasslands pack, with multiple fish species in the exhibit box. Two examples being the red belly piranha and the African cichlids.

  • Sand
  • Cars
  • Small Fonts
  • Trash decal
  • Triangular Mesh
  • All signs for all animals
  • All statues for all animals
  • Horizontal log walls
  • Realistically textured concrete sets

  • More rope pieces
  • Wired cables (similar to rope)
  • A lot more foliage in general

  • I’ll go along with the car pieces, just to add that extra realism
  • Ok this will sound morbid, I need animal parts. I need pelts, skulls, skeletons, horns, antlers, and maybe some taxidermy. I love education, and some zoos do a great job with education. I want elephant tusks to help display poaching, I want a bear paw to display how large their claws are, I want a tiger skull to show off their canines, etc.
  • I also need non-animal part educational props. Bird wingspans, animal heights, animal food webs, fake nests, fake termite mounds, how far can animals jump, etc.
  • I would like more fake trees/ plants. I’m not good with plants so I don’t know what more real species I need, but I’ll happily take some more fake bark/ trees.
  • New mesh pieces would be nice. Especially ones that add some slack to make it look like it isn’t a solid piece, like how real mesh droops.
  • Some new concrete pieces might be nice, eco brutalism is kind of cool I might want to try that. I would also like maybe some log cabin/ tree house pieces. Maybe some Mexico/ central/ Latin America props as well.
  • Sorry @Captain Callum but some dinosaurs and some giant bugs would be nice.
  • To go with the insect hotel, some bird houses, feeders, and hummingbird feeders would be nice. Also maybe a placeable pond of some sort?
  • I’ll go along with others and say I would like more mulch.
  • It doesn’t have to function, but even some props like a carousel or other children’s rides.
  • Uniform animal signs would always be nice, but maybe more signs in general.
I think this is all I have for now.

With all the dinos I have in the calgary zoo build equalling up towards 5000 pieces, I wouldn't be one to argue with some realistic sized dinosaur scenery. Giant bugs though? Let's throw that idea in the deepest pool of lava there is.
Giant bugs? Whats not to love about pigeon sized dragonflies and 2,5m millipedes? Those would certainly be a cool educational display beside invert exhibits

Reminds me of when I watched the king kong film years back and being terrified of the giant bugs. As long as they are not life-like detail statues I could live with them as scenery pieces.

Idk honestly what would make realistic additions to a coastal animal pack, I really like it as a scenery pack because it can give us new wood, seashells, boardwalk pieces, sand, new grass, etc. I guess I would do
  • Walrus
  • Sea Otter
  • Brown Pelican
  • Atlantic Puffin
  • Pere David’s Deer
  • Idk honestly I can’t see a third bird being added here and it doesn’t feel like the right place for a monkey.

The JWE2 DLC that is confirmed is indeed a good precedent, but I'm still cautious. JWE is still something they do for Universal and JW has another show coming this summer so a tie-in with that is indeed a likely scenario that could have been a decision that was made later down the line, after the financial documents were already finalized.

A Planet Coaster-esque scenario with another final DLC in the summer was always a scenario to look out for, and this does seem to make some room for that. I guess we'll have to see when we finally get news on the next DLC for Planet Zoo.
Great point about the JWE2 DLC potentially being linked to the new show. The decision being made post-financial docs makes sense tooo... Of course, this all has me raising an eyebrow but the fact that it could just be (probably) because there's a new show coming has me tempering any expectations around PZ. But we'll see!

Maybe they could just make the update be flexicolor for a few base game sets, at least the walls, ceilings, statues and the like. Dry Stone and Sandstone, I'm looking at ya'll particularly here.
This would be low-key fantastic! And also pretty easy, I think? Making some of the base game assets flexicolor would be a simple way to effectively give people more of what they want. If were to make all of the building sets flexi and a bunch of the earlier DLC assets would go a really long way.

I would hope to see some (but definitely not all) of the following:
  • Hot wire!
  • Additional cables, wire, pipes, etc.
  • More mesh pieces (e.g., for roofs)
  • Traditional stone wall / rubble (think the type of stone wall you might see in a farm or field)
  • Smaller font pieces
  • Pieces to create implied signs without having to use dozens of font pieces (e.g., smaller primitive shapes)
  • Pieces for parking lots/roads (e.g., decals for street lines, cross walks, and parking spaces; 2-3 flexi cars and trucks; booths)
  • Current sign design for all animals
  • Clapboard wall set
  • Additional custom media pieces
  • Placeable grass, dirt, sand, etc. (along the lines of mulch -- but for each biome)

Yeah i dont see a coastal animal pack as likely either. There arent tons of animals that would fit the theme, especially on the simple side of things which would make the bulk of the pack.
The only ones where you can do simple reskin are penguins, and something like a harbor seal.
Stuff like sea otter, walrus and pelican may have a rig that works but would all need some decent adjustments to look right.

I guess an animal pack that is:
-Gentoo
-Harbor seal
-Sea otter
-Walrus
-Pelican
-New rig in form of the puffin
-Exhibit idk mudskippers or hermit crabs would be cool

Isnt impossible but i still think it would work better as a scenery one

Nuh. JWE2 folder 10 been there since dominion release. It was part of dev build leak. Square forgot about it while making video. This game originally was meant to have 10 packs.

But as a side note, this week I’ve went to a tropical walkthrough exhibit with toucans and it was amazing, just your average tropical greenhouse type building with toucans flying branch to branch, why frontier can’t do this I have no idea, it’s completely safe and realistic but whatever.

If it is a scenery pack I would hope it has the animal choices you suggested. I also prefer the spider monkey over the howler. About why so little birds... They are probably harder to make. But I also think frontier keeps them for Planet zoo 2. Think about it, why would you buy the sequel when the first game has everything you need?
