Cargo not loaded at fleet carrier?

Hey all,

So, I bought some wares from a Fleet Carrier. I'd docked, bought the wares, then gone AFK for a couple of minutes. I come back, take off and head for my next destination. I check my ship's Inventory en-route - just to see how much cargo space I have left - and the Cargo is NOT loaded. I assume this is just a weird server delay, and carry on to the next system. I check my cargo again and it's STILL not present.

I assume something broke with the transaction at this point, so I return to the Carrier. I land - cargo still missing - and I go into Comodities at the FC, there's no more of this ware. I check my inventory again and suddenly the cargo is there.

I've had a similar issue in the dim and distant past where I was docking at my Fleet Carrier and loading up on a resource quickly, before leaving ASAP - staying on the surface the entire time. This very fast dock, load, leave approach would regularly leave the cargo unloaded, even though the UI shows the transaction as complete. This time however, I was docked for a good two minutes after loading the cargo before I took off.

Is this a random "happens sometimes" issue, or is there some work-around needed to ensure the Cargo is loaded properly?

I've noticed a similar kind of funkiness, if not the exact same bug, when buying commodities from fleet carriers. Generally what I do when buying from fleet carriers is the following:

1) Enter Carrier Services and buy the commodities I want
2) Exit Carrier Services and check my cargo inventory on the right hand panel. If it's not there, then
3) Re-enter Carrier Services and go to the commodity Buy screen again. The cargo I bought will then show up.

I think I may have had it happen once or twice when buying commodities from stations, but it's definitely something that keeps happening with carriers. It's funny that it hasn't been fixed yet, since I'm fairly sure that it's a bug that can be exploited in order to keep NPC pirates off one's back.

I so rarely trade with Fleet Carriers that I'd largely forgotten the issue, until it happened again. I don't know why I'm surprised that an old bug is still around or came back. I'd have thought that lots of commanders regularly trade with others Fleet Carriers, even if I do not.

I assume though that even if the wares weren't loaded, that they were at least reserved for me. I mean, they magically appeared in my cargo a moment after I docked for the second time, but I wonder if they were up for grabs by another Commander in that time? I'll just have to be more careful next time, though docking, doing the trade, popping for a pee, then coming back NOT being enough time for the cargo to load is...unexpected. Last time I had this issue, years ago, I was literally touching down at my Carrier, loading up and taking off again. I think I was unloading loads of accumulated wares for a CG or something and often I'd arrive at the destination EMPTY, due to the bug.

So doing colonization, and this is so frustrating having to transfer, then exit and go back into the menu again just to make it work.

If you're purchasing a full load of something, the easiest way to deal with this is simply to try and buy more of the same thing.

Purchase a cargo-hold full of a commodity and you'll get the "cargo hold full" message.
Check your left HUD and it'll show no cargo loaded.
Go back to the commodity market, try to purchase something else and you'll immediately get the "cargo hold full" message again.
Check your left HUD again and it'll be showing the stuff you originally bought.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help if you're just buying part-loads of stuff because it seems that provoking the "cargo hold full" message for the 2nd time is what causes the inventory list to update.

Good ol' relogski will confirm the cargo is actually in your inventory. The transaction always works but just isn't visible, unless there is a new bug related to that.
