Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Here is a thought for an Amazon pack:
  1. Squirrel monkey
  2. White faced saki
  3. Ocelot
  4. Red rumpled agouti
  5. Giant river turtle (Arrau)
  6. White faced whistling duck (teehee 😜)
  7. Scarlet ibis
  8. WTE: scarlet macaw

For an Amazon pack this is great, but due to limited future DLC’s I’d rather have a pack that covers all of South America

Remove the baboon
Woah excuse you

Also how the hell did the Hamadryas baboon get booted to #10 on the 2024 meta wishlist? I know frontier probably won’t even look at this list cause it’s too late but no way Markhor and Musk Ox are higher than one of the best primates we don’t have 😭😭😭

(Spider monkey in the top 6 is good though)
I'm looking at this and wondering why a bear with fur glasses has as many votes as the most needed monkey for south america

The Americas and a Global pack seem to dominant these pages. Are there any biomes you think would be an interesting theme?
I few months ago I posted an idea of a Shrublands pack. It was originally a Scenery pack, but if I were to make it an animal pack....

1: Secretary Bird
2: Eastern Quoll
3: Greater Roadrunner
4: Patagonian Mara
5: Short-Beaked Echidna
6: Desert Bighorn Sheep
7: Olive Baboon
Exhibit: Texas Horned Lizard

A nice mix of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas

potential biome ideas
  • an actual proper desert pack since every continent has desert yet for some reason only africa gets attention could have things like the perentie, coyote, spurred tortoise, jerboa and one of the hundreds of small reptiles as an exhibit
  • a tundra pack since 2 of the top 10 animals would be perfect for that
  • a temperate pack we have so many temperate and cold climate plants but no here near enough animals for them especially from south america
  • a taiga pack same reasons as a temperate pack plus mountains
Tbh an animal I wish we get but I know for a fact we will never see happen is red-eared sliders as habitat animals. Imagine making little ponds for them or releasting a ton to a huge lake... prop turtles will have to fill that hole in my heart.
This is what im looking for more interesting habitat choices like iguanas, turtles, salamanders and small mammals the exhibit system just doesnt do them justice.

So why do you guys think Frontier has an aversion to monkeys?
Do you think it might be due to technical limitations or something like that, or more so because of more casual players might not care for them as much (people finding monkeys creepy looking due to their similarity to humans).
1. Monkeys arent well-known and popular animals in media. Reflected by wishlist.
2. Frontier is willing to put effort into 2 unique animals per pack. Every single monkey count as one. So most popular animals are usually chosen.
3. Monkeys are outcompeted by said more popular animals, mostly carnivorans and ungulates.
4. Repeat every pack.

What would be your pick for a Safari animal pack?
1) Honey Badger
2) Secretary Bird
3) Bat Eared Fox
4) Serval
5) Mantled Guereza
6) Hamadryas Babbon
7) Grey Crowned Crane
8) Saddle Billed Stork

Honourable mentions: Black Backed Jackal, Saddle Billed Stork, African Spurred Tortoise, Nile Crocodile

It’s also worth to mention that our second and last dlc monkey was really heave criticized mostly for not being popular in zoos and that also may affect their future decisions.
But also after both proboscis and macaque another langur or macaque should not be that much of a problem to create on the base that is already there.
I like to think that they’ve saved monkeys for their own dedicated pack but I know that is not really possible.

I would really like to have as much monkeys as antelopes and be able to create monkey houses.
Baboon and Mantled guereza are a staple. At least in my region except for very small species SA monkeys are not that popular. But nearly every zoo have monkeys from both Africa and Asia.

From DLC there's been 4 primates, at 1 per given year. Rodents and Habitat Reptiles also average 1 per year.

Birds have been 2 per year on average (getting 3 last year), Marsupials have been 2 per year except none in 2021.

Hoofstock is easy to make, and easy to use/mix, so the usage stats they get back probably look pretty good.

Carnivorans have featured in every pack apart from Oceania, it sort of suggests they're not that confident in a pack selling without one, or something equivalent.

Oh no... The next community challenge... I hope it doesn't mean we're getting an aquatic pack 2.0. Haha. I'd actually be pretty happy for the (at least some of) community though! AND it would be a good way to include new types. Hopefully some sea birds!
Have they hinted stuff that way before? I can see on the wayback machine there's one for Oceania animals shortly after the Oceania pack launch, but can't see anything from before. For other ones I don't see connections.

On a seperate note, how do challenges work? Is it a competition to release the most, or is it more a collaboration? I'm guessing there's always a base game animal to use (For Oceania I guess it was the Saltwater crocodile), as the Polar Bear is a bit awkward for console players right now.

I'm Calling It Right Now, It's Going To Finally Be An Islands Pack.
Animal And Scenery Roster:
  • Cozumel Coati
  • Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
  • Lowland Anoa
  • American Flamingo
  • Lord Howe Island Stick Insect
  • Pirate Or Caribbean Scenery Set

Personally I think that there are two packs left, so I think that this spring pack should allow us to obtain the last big gameplay update. This is why I would like this to be the pack that I have been waiting for for a very long time, dedicated to children's visitors.

SPRING DLC
CHILDREN PACK
Free Update:

  • Play area for kids
  • Group of children visitors (school class)
  • Petting interactions (For : Lama, European Fallow Deer, Wallaby + (New) African Spurred Tortoise, Alpaca, Nigerian Dwarf Goat, Zebu, Patagonian Mara)
  • New employee: Mascot

ROSTER (7 Animals + 6 Birds clones)
I have long defended the idea that it would be a roster including animals usable in mini farms and in contact with children, but with animals usable in continental areas or enclosures.
  • Patagonian Mara (WISHLIST N°23 - SOUTH AMERICA)
  • Helmeted Guineafowl (WISHLIST N°51 - AFRICA)
  • African Spurred Tortoise (WISHLIST N°57 - AFRICA)
  • Alpaca (WISHLIST N°178 - SOUTH AMERICA)
  • Mandarin Duck (WISHLIST N°72 - ASIA)
  • Nigerian Dwarf Goat (WISHLIST N°108 - AFRICA)
  • Zebu (WISHLIST N°262 - ASIA)
+
CONTACT AVIARY SPECIES
With contact animations with visitors
  • Ara Hyacynthe
  • Ara Chloropterus
  • Turquoise-fronted Amazon
  • Mitred Parakeet
  • American white Ibis
  • Scarlet Ibis

SUMMER (AND LAST) DLC

I see this pack as an end pack, intended for the community, with 16 of the most requested species. No major Update.

That would be a really bad reason to stop making monkeys though.
The critic is that people wanted another monkey instead ofvthe proboscis, not no monkey, something people are very vocal about.
If frontier isnt making monkeys because they failed to choose a non controversial one and afterwards failed to read the feedback of "We want monkeys" for over 3 years then why did they even have community managers in the first place?
