Fleet Carrier cut

damn thats a shame. Checking the issue tracker, it doesn't seem anyone has reported this on there, at least not that I can find. If anyone knows if it has been reported, could you link it so I can upvote it?

It is not a bug - it is by design that there is no tariff applied to exobiology sales. Once could cynically assume that FDEV wanted to provide a huge (*ing gigantic) credit well from scanning bios - (sales incentive for Odyssey perhaps?) - and taking a 25% cut of that wouldn't play to their "cunning plan". ;)

that would make no sense though, everything else has to option for tariffs, has built in terrifs (UC) or is just a market and can make money somehow. In the description it even says it places a charge on all sold data, the same line for UC where it does indeed take a cut

Argument is, UC is owned by Pilot's Federation, we are members of pilots federation, therefore they provide us a cut of the profits from selling the data. Vista Genomics (and pioneer Supplies) are entirely separate companies that lease a shop area on the carrier to do business and therefore don't have to offer us a cut of the profits from sales. It's always been that way since carriers were released and as far as I am aware according to what FDEV said at the time it's not a mistake, that was always the intention, regardless of what docs say, sometimes things get written down that aren't correct.

I would like to be able to make money on the module for my carrier when other people sell at it, just like the UC

Except that Vista Genomics does not lease a shop on a carrier, they charge 150m credits to install one and then another 1.5m every week. If they don't want to provide a cut of the profits, then they should be paying me to host their shop.

You can only set tariffs for RRR, but VG would work like UC with fixed tariffs, so everyone loses money.
True. If this goes through it'll just result in nobody ever using FC VG, will have to return to the bubble to deal with it. I'm currently in the black with a friend on one account, and I know she'd hate the idea of being forced to steal 25% of whatever I turn in.

All this really does is penalize people playing together. Nobody stops at a random fleet carrier to use their genomics, especially not when you're holding billions in data and some random is gonna get 25% of it. The only real use is people and their friends/squadron using the same carrier. In which scenario, why would you want to take your friend's money?

Because fleet carriers are expensive and should be able to make the owner money in my opinion.
Im not necessarily saying it has to be done how UC does it. Because i agree its not nice losing a bit of the payout. But the fact that the carriers have such a high weekly upkeep to force players to keep playing, and everything else having such a low return on invest, its annoying that one of the more lucrative activities can't be made profitable for the carrier owner.
In the ideal world i would suggest to just remove the 25% deduction but still give the carrier owner their 12.5%. just like how wing trading bonds give your wing mates a small percentage of profit for free as well. Though i feel like that's even less likely to happen as just fixing the discrepancy between UC and VG. I just feel a little ripped off as a carrier owner who has paid so much money, only to not make any back with a module that specifies ingame it would make me some back.

Umm, they can, people make billions trading through FC's, but like everything in life, it's what you want to do with it that matters. I'm not sure where you get the idea that people can't make money using carriers.

The service to make money as has been sort of already mentioned, is the Bartender. Just put wanted Odyssey mats up for sale and they will go. For a modestly fitted out carrier, sell five SDPs or a dozen MIs and that is the upkeep for a week (depending on the services).

I never said that you can't make money with them. But for making money while trading you would need to keep up with market data often and move the carrier in the position for that. But thats not the point I'm making anyway. This is about vista genomics, not the market
