What do you want to do in Planet Zoo

Anybody who can help me out with this "open" space in my zoo? It is there for some time now and still no plans with it.

It is directly next to my largest savanna exhibit so one of my thoughts was to integrate it with this exhibit, to also create an extra viewing point (current viewing points are marked with blue circles). Think this could also give me the opportunity to add another species to this exhibit (currently giraffes, gazelles and ostriches are in it).

Another thought was to create a new exhibit, but what could be possible with this space? Already having sand cats, rhinoceros, meerkats, warthogs, porcupines, wild dogs and the ones mentioned before in this section.

Or maybe something completely different?

Could African penguin work? Or perhaps camels. Honestly that space would be perfect for a rocky habitat for baboons or Barbary sheep if we had those.

Yeah I was also thinking about the penguins a bit, since they are a bit "odd" in Africa, so a corner/dead end to have them in is not so bad. Only doubt I have is that the space is too short till the zoo barrier, so the exhibit would maybe fit, but I wouldn't have any space left to place some foliage to cover that there is an open space behind it.

But I agree, with a rocky habitat the space would also be nice to use for baboons/sheeps.
Since the space doesn't seem too big, maybe you can put lemurs there?
Good suggestion! Hadn't thought about that one, since there is a walkthrough exhibit just in front of it, I could make another one, but then with lemurs.

Fennec foxes? The crepuscular canine to counter the cool (sand) cat

unless the undercover area is an eating area. I would personally go with a vendor/seating area before they head back out, with a viewing spot for the habitat on the right.

Already have some sort of semi desert themed section in the beginning.

Having one in the top of the picture (with the open space between the two buildings). Only didn't like the design so deleted it.

Think I will go with the lemur idea! With the bat aviary already, it is giving the feeling that you have some larger building with multiple exhibits.

Thank you for all the ideas :)

How about a Madagascar House? It’d have a walkthrough lemur habitat that leads to the fossa habitat.

Unfortunately the space is too small for two exhibits, but went in the end with Aramar's suggestion and going for lemurs! It will be a WT exhibit with an indoor space attached. The exhibit will be covered with nets to be able to have the foliage on the outside against the exhibit, to cover the borders of the zoo as good as possible.

This is currently the outlining of the exhibit. It is already feeling very small, but lets see what I can do with it when we add climable structures.

Similar to how I instantly included some animals from the Eurasia Animal Pack in my zoo I think I'm going to do the same with Barnyard. The right side of my zoos entrance already has a loose "native wildlife" theme as well as a few more European animals dotted in (ibex and reindeer). Considering my zoo is set in Britain this means that having a farm section for heritage breeds could actually be a pretty good idea! I think I will build this in a bit of a dead area I already had, definitely enough room for the cattle, pig, sheep, and chicken... And considering I already have Alpine ibex in this area I think including the Alpine goat in the farm also would make sense. This area is mostly done though and I don't want to overbloat it so I think I'll stick to those species. I'll have to wait and see until the pack is out though, I may change my mind on this but right now it sounds pretty nice.

Makes it even better that almost all of the animals are british breeds :D

Im definetly thinking about redoing/expanding the petting zoo/farm area in my black forest zoo. Currently only has one large-ish enclosure with dall sheep, somali wild and babirussa acting as domestics and a chicken coop type deal with baby peafowl as chickens. I definetly wanna include all of the new animals in there, well except for the alpaca maybe, but i think there is to little space there actually. So thats gonna be interesting

Well, with a 4th camelid coming to the game, I had the great idea of making a section of zoo with 4 enclosures next to each other with the fences randomly blocked with rocks or free towards guests.
I'm planning on making it a shooting range for camelids to try to spit at guests.

I'm calling it:

Spitter's Gulch

As soon as the Barnyard Animal Pack comes out, I’m considering making a farm that was converted into an animal rescue/sanctuary for circus animals. What do you all think? Or should I just make a farm?
That could really be great yes. Also lions/tigers? Or more like zebras/camels?

Started a new zoo again (lol) because i keep running out of space because despite all my planning i always somehow end up getting stuck on the edges of the map. Anyways, this zoo is based in Maine, and is called Acadian Driftwood Zoo, named after the national park and the song. I have a rough map laid out (i hope i gave myself enough space this time, I think i should be good):

The one thing i noticed is the aardvark in the savannah habitat, which from a realism viewpoint you probably wouldnt see since you would need to dig proof the entire fence, a big expense for an animal you wouldnt even see most the time because its nocturnal.
So id suggest swapping it in for the nile monior (which isnt really a arid species), idk maybe combine it together with the sandcat and fennec into a nocturnal house?
If you still want a monitor in the zoo id suggest to maybe include the asian water monitor in the indian reptile area :)
Probaly also wanna make the two gazelles switch places, makes more sense that way to me
Obviously you can do whatever you want, but you asked for thoughts and feedback so here they are :D

I appreciate the ideas, that is why i posted it here! In my head there was a smaller section for the aardvarks to hang out in that the other species wouldnt be able to access...but i didn't think of the digging thing. Good call, i am going to move that to the arid zone (which is all going to be indoors btw) and just nix the monitor completely

So im currently brainstorming ideas for the next project i want to do once im finished with my black forest one.
The ones i have are:
-Australian version of my black forest wildpark, displaying only local species since i didnt get the chance to build for alot of the oceanian animals yet.
-Small Zoo on the north sea coast, being mostly an aquarium/sea life esque place with mainly seals, penguins and stuff but also a few lowkey miscellaneous animals like meerkats and lemurs.

But im very much open for ideas! Just gotta be something on the smaller side since i have neither the motivation/endurance or the computer to do a huge city zoo for example. Oh and ideally something decently realistic that you could actually see somewhere in the world.
