Hate to tell you this but ED originally bankrolled Planet Coaster and Jurassic Park. Once the money get's to Fdev, it's up to them how they spend that revenue. Unless it's the studio's only game, there's no guarantee that the revenue will go to the game. Elite will get a fixed budget every year and if the revenue generated by the game is greater than the budget thenYeah if elites bankrolling development of other titles in fdevs catalogue, won't go down well!
The irony in that is that my build for August is so narrowly matching the power output of an armored monstered powerplant, that I have to actually disable the FSD with hardpoints out and would want the V1 FSD with 2 seconds reboot instead of the FCO. But I'm no PvP player, in which case I'd engineer the SCO with fast boot instead of long range.Everybody who wants one has probably got it by now. The fact it uses the SCO Drive so well makes it highly desirable.
That's an interesting aspect. Using the SCO was the thing I enjoyed most when evaluating the Python II. Maybe even the only thing I really enjoyed. Other than that.... I found the Python II meh. Yeah yeah, it's a fast, nimble ship, and four large hardpoints are kind of hilarious... but it is more or less a one trick pony like the FDL (I know, shocking revelation). As with the FDL (and ships like the Mamba, Vulture or FAS) I absolutely hate how badly it travels. The jump range is good, but the tank is too small for my taste, and when you fit something like PAs (and why would you not want toThe fact it uses the SCO Drive so well makes it highly desirable.
I'm torn between agreeing with you, and demanding that the Courier is...The best ship in the game is the Viper 4 anyway.
I think we're not seeing the big picture yet. When you also add in the functionality in PP2.0, its role becomes clearer.(just to clear the air, this is all in the context of me doing only PvE and not being interested in PvP in the slightest)

So for me, in the end, the PII will go in the hangar just like many other ships, and I will return to my beloved Krait II for my (PvE) combat needs. I'll probably rip the SCO drive I engineered for the PII out and stick it in the Krait. The best ship in the game is the Viper 4 anyway.

But then, I've done AX surface CZ in a Viper IV and laughed all the way to melting point, so I may give ground to it, just a little!
If "best" is defined by "the one you use the most", then for me it would be the Diamondback Explorer. The best ship in the game is the Viper 4 anyway.
First we need Water Worlds, second we need a way to stop the lasers boiling the water and the megs.I wanted megalodons! With lasers, on their fricken heads!
I was in tears with 4 shard(?) cannnons fighting in a ground AX CZ, instant caustic immunity on the first volley. Very impractical, but pure joy and hilarity. You gyuys are now forcing me to invest in a Viper MkIV you know... The COurier is currently my favorite for everything excpet exploration so we'll see...
Do I understand you correctly? Since T6,T7,T9 are cargo ships and T10 is a heavy combat ship, then T8 will be a combat attack ship similar to FDL, PythonMk2, Mamba, because only in this case it will have big sales at the start ?New toy! It will die down when the infamous Type 8 arrives at your local showroom!
No-one knows yet, we're all just guessing.Do I understand you correctly? Since T6,T7,T9 are cargo ships and T10 is a heavy combat ship, then T8 will be a combat attack ship similar to FDL, PythonMk2, Mamba, because only in this case it will have big sales at the start ?
Or will T8 be a good all-rounder to replace Krait Mk2 ?
I think here it does not matter who wants what exactly, it is important the most popular direction so that as many people as possible want to buy it.No-one knows yet, we're all just guessing.
Personally I want to see something different from the direction the Python Mk.II went, so not another combat ship. I'd want a ship based on the Type-7 frame, as we haven't seen a variant of that yet, but smaller to fit on a medium pad, with a good cargo capacity and an SCO optimised hull. The Type-7 is too tall for Medium pad, but other dimensions would fit, so just a bit shorter, with some re-sized internals.
True, popularity is important, but I think there's enough players just wanting something new that anything different will be worth buying. There's already "best" ships in class for particular jobs, but many players enjoy flying imperfect ships, just for their personality. I've flown Type-7's and Type-9's just because I can, and I don't care that a Cutter is technically better. As long as the Type-8 is "good enough" at something, people will buy it.I think here it does not matter who wants what exactly, it is important the most popular direction so that as many people as possible want to buy it.
I've never had a T7-T9 because I don't see the point of them, I have a Cutter for that.
Maybe you're right. Despite the fact that I have enough ARXs I don't want to buy it (Python Mk2), as I don't see any special advantages over FDL and Mamba.True, popularity is important, but I think there's enough players just wanting something new that anything different will be worth buying.
