General DBX Jumpstart Pre-Built

The pre-built DBX jumpstart ship for 25,500 ARX should at least come with the 5A FSD v1 pre-engineered instead of the standard 5A. The pre-built Chieftain receives rank 5 Dirty Drives on their thrusters, which is needed for Xeno combat, however dropping 25,500 ARX for the DBX is too pricey. At least, the v1 pre-engineered 5A FSD, lets the player jump start with enough "legs" to get into planetary exploration, exobiology, and jumping around the bubble for missions, engineering materials, and unlocking engineers. You can bounty hunt with a friend (possibly recruiting friend to play Elite together) to buy what's offered. You could even toss in the pre-Engineered Detailed Scanner. This would be a more complete Jumpstart package then what's offered and still opens the door for the player get involved and so much more.

But it already comes with a guardian FSD booster. . .
You are right there.

I will try to explain my rationale for the suggestion. The v1 pre-engineered FSD is easily accessible and purchasable with minimal engineering materials and commodities, and paired with the FSD Booster, the DBX has an estimated ~55 to 60 Ly jump range. This solves one of the pain points for starting players: Moving from system to system without spending their entire game time doing jumps. For the hefty 25,500 ARX package Frontier should at least address that one pain point in the DBX jump start package. From the Mentoring perspective: The v1 pre-engineered module introduces them to engineering, in context, how engineering modules improves the ship or module's performance. There is subtly when you teach with comparisons e.g. standard 5A to the 5A v1 FSD.

Remember, these modules are not interchangeable with other ships. Right now, the DBX pre-built is weak to the cost to value return. It would be more enticing for people to drop the ARX with a pre-built ship with 55 to 60 Ly jump range because then this pre-built ship option opens the door to everything else that Elite Dangerous offers in content play. An actual "Jumpstart" to playing Elite Dangerous.

I am considering getting it just to get the FSD Booster. I have tried the Guardian sites a few times and I have never even come close to doing what I need for the FSD Booster.

Frontier says it isn't "pay to win" but for me this seems like a reasonable way to go about getting that booster.

You get a >40 LY base range on the DBX, which is more than you can get from any unengineered starter ship. It's by far the best of the three quickstart ships already in terms of fitness for purpose.

It costs about twice as much in materials (especially the DWEs, but those Tellurium and Electrochemical Array requirements can be fairly steep for a beginner too) as engineering a normal FSD to near the top of G5 would cost, and Martuuk is one of the easiest engineers to unlock.

It's a starter ship - you're not going to be taking it for really extended trips without customising it a bit anyway (5A FSD paired with a 3A scoop is going to get old fast) - so it doesn't need a 70 LY range out of the box.

but for me this seems like a reasonable way to go about getting that booster.
Remember that you can't use it on any ship except that specific DBX - all pre-built modules are non-transferable.

If you were wanting it specifically for a DBX in the first place then that's not a problem, of course.

Not much is needed, really:

Of the Guardian mats, the Tech Component is rarest, but just trawling around 3 or 4 blueprint sites should get all you need.
If you'd like assistance, I'd gladly accompany you around a few.

You should give it another try or, as Metatheurgist suggests, go with friends. It’s really fun content once you get the basic understanding of the sites and mechanics.

Thanks for the offer. I won't be able to play for a few weeks, but once I am back I may contact you about it.
That's great, it'll be a couple of FC jumps to get into the cluster of systems. If you have a DBX or similar, have one or 2 point defence on the top... You'll need a SRV also.
If you DM me when you are coming back to play, we can arrange the trip.
Could also detour on the way back to the Crystal Shard systems if you want to top up your Raw mats too, no problem.

Do you have to get back in an SRV to scan the final orb thing?
Unfortunately yes.. You need the SRV to pick up the relic, mats, and to scan the altar. But you can energize the pylons and shoot the panels off while on foot. You can also take out the sentinels which is fun. It's quite easy to see where the pylons are if you are high up, so fun to fly around on the day side of low gravity planets.
