Yup. And fix the graphical glitches many ships have that have become more obvious with on-foot gameplayThe old ED ships could also use a level-of-detail upgrade.

I have no knowledge of the looks of the ships in Eve and SC, this reminds me of the following though not necessarily a strong resemblanceGoing to go with my gut and....I don't like it (in an ED context).
The main reason is it does not 'feel' like an ED ship to me aesthetically- this is very much more Eve or Star Citizen. The only cues are the lakon cockpit and the landing legs- everything else (to me) just feels 'off'.
But I'll reserve my judgement for when its flying about.
No, I'd expect it to beat my 10-collector-limpets Python if it wants to become my miner.Provided it is based on the T7, but with larger hardpoints, it could easily match the Python.
...
Yes it does look like that. I hope it's not just another combat ship.Cargo missions frequently are for 122 or 196 tons
2 122T missions can be done by a Python
To be significant the T-8 will need to be able to carry either 392T or at least 318T
It wil be interesting to see as the exterior pics don't make it look like the configration will accomodate that. It looks like it's mostly engines and weapons pylons.
Early release for ARX ???
Well invert this ship and see what you get:I have no knowledge of the looks of the ships in Eve and SC, this reminds me of the following though not necessarily a strong resemblance
It would be nice if the forks where spinal mount type weapons or for that weapon in the Known Space books that created Canyon, but even if not I am inclined favourably towards it even if it is a crowded sector to fit in.
- Nostromo from Alien
- Some RPG table top game miniatures that I can’t recall properly
- A Lakon ship, the greenhouse
- Some transformers era Japanese anime ship
I have fond memories of using my T7 mostly based on how well it handled in supercruise which emphasised just how bad the Anaconda was.
When we were looking at the box version I was thinking Chris Foss design looks.
Speaking of the box look are the hit boxes based on those.
I'm all for new ships, but my inner space autist demands things done just so. The 'rule of cool' is fine but everything needs consistency.I get your point, and it really does feel like its an entirely new manufacturer building these things - yet I believe thats just what elite needs, especially since its competing with SC (at least at some level).
This game needs new players and I believe making cool looking ships - even when feeling a bit out of universe - is a good way to get the interest of a few people which were previously on the fence about trying the game.
That's exactly what I am saying: if it's based on the T7, which has better modules than the Python, it's going to replace it.No, I'd expect it to beat my 10-collector-limpets Python if it wants to become my miner.
You get something that ... doesn't look like the type8?

One can hope

In the stream Ron Cobb's—designer for Alien and Aliens—work was cited as inspiration for T8. And it's not just T8, the whole E: D has Ron Cobb style all over it. Hangar bays, Odyssey settlements, there is even clear Semiotic Standard signage in places.Nostromo from Alien

If you were to replace the word 'consistency' with 'custard', then all is well.I'm all for new ships, but my inner space autist demands things done just so. The 'rule of cool' is fine but everything needs consistency.
Why run so many? No, I'd expect it to beat my 10-collector-limpets Python if it wants to become my miner.
Efficiency one would imagine, to collect the lumps as fast as they're generated. When strip laser mining this becomes increasingly important to maximise credits per hour. Why run so many?
Indeed, I wonder where this ship is going to land:
Python 294t max
Type 8?
T7 310t max
Unless it gets a way better jump range than a Python (as I don't expect this to have better hardpoints or shield multiplier) isn't going that much far.
I'd have more likely welcomed a 450-500t L-pad with better range, agility and higher shield multiplier than a T9
If T8 gets like 350t it will be clumsier and have a shorter range than a T7 for sure (unless it breaks the scale and then we might sell all the T7s).
Even with 10, I wait for them to finish work after an asteroid is depleted. The bottleneck for mining efficiency is always collector limpets. Why run so many?
