Still having problems with modular gift shops?

I just tried to fix a few of my zoo's modular gift shops after leaving them closed for over a month. Deleted and replaced the shops and paths leading to them. Rebuilt new shops, but old issues are still occurring. Some guests and employees still can't enter, and some of those that enter still get trapped. I've reloaded at least twice after placing the shops and all items in them, so pathfinding should be resolved.

I found this on the issue tracker and reported it, but what I want to know is... is this still a common issue? Did the mid-January patch fix this for most players and leave me as the rare exception, or is this still widespread?

Thanks, everyone.

The shops are still very broken. The only time one has worked well for me was the one in the new career sceneario. Anytime I build one in franchise or sandbox, my vendors are stuck at the entrance and the shops are empty, so I just loose money with them and end up deleting them.

I built one and it was working fine until the employees took their breaks. Now they won't come back and the new one I hired and dropped in front of the shop is just standing there.

I wonder if it's connected somehow with that occasional bug many of us have seen with vendors, where they refuse to staff certain shops. I've had some shops that are never open, even though there is an empty staffroom nearby. Sometimes when I hire a new vendor and drop them next to those shops, they'll simply walk away. Also, the thing with staff insisting on walking all the way across the map to a staffroom, even when there's more than one much nearer to them. This even happens occasionally when I've carefully set up work zones.

In those cases either firing the offending staff member and hiring a new one, or in the case of the food vendors, deleting and re-placing it, can solve the issue. But it sounds like the issue with the modular shops is persistent. Reminds me a bit of a bug I had in one zoo where a vet was just standing in the flowers outside a particular habitat, and I couldn't get him to leave, even by firing him or demolishing said habitat. In that case, though, there was a dead tapir he wouldn't remove whose ghost was "haunting" the guests in that corner of the zoo (misregistered as an escaped animal).

There's another weird glitch with those food counters, where the staff member always starts to walk off when you drop them in front but then they do a U-turn and come back. Once in a while, however they just keep going. Sometimes it's due to placement, but it's interesting that they never go straight to the counter, even when they end up staffing it.

The shop thing has always been an aspect of the game that feels hit or miss to me. Why are some food vendors overflowing with guests, but the one next to it gets no one, for instance. And why are the guests always hungry and thirsty, even when there are tons and tons of food shops (far more than in a real zoo), but some are empty of guests? And why do the guests have to eat more frequently than shrews and hummingbirds IRL? Is it a way the game augments player income?

I tried everything and my modular souvenir shops are always giving me the same issue. I've hired and fired all vendors, deleted the shops, moved around all furniture, removed paths, removed all building pieces around, changed workzones...

Yeah, I tried moving the furniture around, hiring and firing etc. It seems like they're still broken. I added a report to one of the very long threads about this issue, but who knows when it will be fixed. For now it's back to my old strategy of simply putting a memento and Hat's fantastic shop in and building my own building around it and creating shelves with fake merchandise created from various props.

Update - After messing round with the blueprints zoo, I give up and go onto another project in my main zoo, load in and the guests come flying into the shop, without changing a thing!

Same here and I'm not clearer on why. I have a basic test zoo where I build my blueprints and have added two exhibits (all animals undying at 100% everything) and added my gift shop - staff not working. I remapped the gift shop and finally, the staff were entering (even with the path not connected at one point, just very close) and no guests. I've added a basic plate, counter, and two displays - no customers. I've even now added the blueprint that's provided with the game and the same result! I was excited about this feature being added, but one that now seems to be rushed which is disappointing. Especially considering how many other packs have been released without such major issues it feels like Frontier has already given up on the PC players :(

Try placing the cash register on the main tile of the shop, not on the additional tiles. That solved the issue in my game.
Did you relocate the register on the main tile from its default position? If so I haven't tried so it might worth a shot. 😅
