I mean its not my first choice for a monkey either, but thats mostly because its very ape like. And we need classical monkeys more than anythingThe anti creepy smile maque league strikes again!
Oh i just find it very creepy. I don't like it. Very uncanny valley for me. But that's just a personal dislike more than an objective opinion hahah.Wait whats wrong with the macaque?
I'm tripling down on my late August/early September prediction along with the pack being a final one that's bigger than usual. The original schedule was shot when the Barnyard pack came three weeks later and they revealed that another pack was in the works for "later this year" while emphasizing how "busy" the team was. Which I continue to believe was deliberate wording and not just some off-the-cuff thing. They have a better sense of their release schedule than that. Are we thinking a July release date is most likely? On the original schedule, we would usually get a pack next week, but Barnyard was three week's later than the usual late March/early April release for Spring.
Because to.some of us the barnyard pack was like basically getting nothing haha i mean i'll Buy it eventually because of the pieces mostly but since i'm more interested in wild animals is double the wait for me to get something i'm excited about.I'm tripling down on my late August/early September prediction along with the pack being a final one that's bigger than usual. And with Barnyard coming 3 weeks later that would push release out to late July/early August. Throw in a few extra weeks for extra content and voila! We're there.
In hindsight, it's pretty obvious that they told us a new pack was in the works to quell "doomspeak" about the game's end when a summer pack didn't materialize around the usual schedule. They wanted people to stick around and ensure people knew that development wasn't done. Think about how different the tone in this forum would be right now if they hadn't said that... With all the conversations being more about "if" rather than "when."
EDIT: I'm also not sure why anybody would even want something so quickly after the Barnyard pack. If we were to get something 1-2 months afterward there's no scenario in which it wouldn't be rushed given everything else. Give them time to cook!
Meanwhile the builders gotta wait a whole year for a new scenery pack (assuming we even get another)Because to.some of us the barnyard pack was like basically getting nothing haha i mean i'll Buy it eventually because of the pieces mostly but since i'm more interested in wild animals is double the wait for me to get something i'm excited about.
I felt the extra scenery pieces in the barnyard pack was pretty good to satisfy that new piece need, although we still didn't get horizontal wood walls but not really a big deal.Meanwhile the builders gotta wait a whole year for a new scenery pack (assuming we even get another)
Yeah it was nice to get a little bone thrown to the builders.I felt the extra scenery pieces in the barnyard pack was pretty good to satisfy that new piece need, although we still didn't get horizontal wood walls but not really a big deal.
In a vacuum, ignoring all real world context, I fully get that! Haha. The Barnyard pack was a nice middle-ground for me but the lack of flexicolor options is still a letdown and left me feeling like there were some corners cut. Which kinda just reinforces the thought that I'd rather wait longer for a pack than get something sooner.Yeah it was nice to get a little bone thrown to the builders.
See i actually would be pretty okay if we only get Barnyard style packs from now on, but then the animal selection has to be a banger to make up the lack of scenery.
Currently the animal packs are rather weak and alot of the roster is pretty same-ish. Which makes me miss new scenery even more, since there isnt as much variety in the roster you tend to build very similar habitats for alot the pack which can get boring pretty quickly without a new scenery set to play around with.

I think we are at a stage where frontier is trying to add some of the more requested features in the free update but at the same time trying to add requested animals up to the detail standard we have grown to expect. This is kind of why I'm a little skeptical on these ideal latin america packs which would require basically all the effort put into rigging the monkeys to the lar gibbon swinging animations. The Barnyard pack was a nice middle-ground for me but the lack of flexicolor options is still a letdown and left me feeling like there were some corners cut. The coconut crab does not belong in an exhibit it is way too big for that. Other than that the roster is good it represents mostly globally known islands well.Tbh out of that roster the only ones that interest me are the tree roo and the nene. An habitat iguana would be nice Indeed though, but i deffinetly don't need anymore English domestics and even if it is not English, deffinetly not another pig. A Victoria crowned pigeon would be much more interesting than any oh them, Caribbean flamingo and brown pelican would work for Caribbean Rep while adding more birds and variety and we are also missing the aye-aye for Madagascar, which looks and behave very different from the other lemurs we have and it is fairly requested. And please not the creepy macaque
So for me a good Islands animal pack roster would be
- Tree kangaroo (Australia/ New Guinea)
- Victoria crowned pigeon (New Guinea)
- Brown pelican (Caribbean Islands)
- Nene goose (Hawaii)
- Aye-aye (Madagascar)
- Marine iguana (Galápagos)
- Japanese serow (Japan)
- Ex: Coconut crabs
You get three birds, 1 primate, 1 arboreal marsupial, 1 reptiles and 1 obligated ungulates.
That said i think an Islands pack is extremely unlikely after Oceanía and Tropical.
I think there's something to this! Frontier seems to be taking strides toward making this as "complete" a game as possible with obvious exceptions (e.g., aviaries and aquariums) and within reason (e.g., no zookeeper mode). And that's the great quandary of the Barnyard pack. Nobody didn't want that petting zoo function. But what would the point of said-function be without the barnyard animals? People would have been begging for a Barnyard pack.I think we are at a stage where frontier is trying to add some of the more requested features in the free update but at the same time trying to add requested animals up to the detail standard we have grown to expect. I'd like to hope that climbing gets a complete overhaul to pair with new monkeys for a LATAM pack but the chances of that are extremely slim.Yeah, i also prefer to wait longer if that means a well fleshed out pack with a good roster, specially if it is the last one.
I do wonders what update features could go with the two main themes we are speculating: LATAM and Zookeeper collection.

For Latin America, especially if there's a treetop focus with the species selected, I could see them incorporating elevators and/or hotels. Along with some animals coming up to barriers for food/eating from guests (monkeys, giraffes).Yeah, i also prefer to wait longer if that means a well fleshed out pack with a good roster, specially if it is the last one.

Which is kinda why im getting less enthusiastic about a LAT pack as time goes on, the majority of the likely inclusions dont really interest meI think we are at a stage where frontier is trying to add some of the more requested features in the free update but at the same time trying to add requested animals up to the detail standard we have grown to expect. the updates dont have to match the pack eurasia is a good example of this but if we were matching I think for LATAM it would probably be climbing rework to go with monkey or an exhibit rework such as multiple sizes or exhibit optional mode for another iguana.Yeah, i also prefer to wait longer if that means a well fleshed out pack with a good roster, specially if it is the last one.
