That has been CIG modus operandi since day 1. Kick things down the road with the excuse of making things more "substantial". 12 years in, it seems we have not yet learnt the lesson.

MOTD: (Thor's Day) We are still on track to start a 4-6 hour TECH-PREVIEW playtest with all backers starting in about 3.5h from this message at 1900 UTC. This will be a 3.22.x build with Stanton meshed into 3 authority zones to test different hardware and a more efficient setup.
Choose My Adventure: Flying, dogfighting, and struggling with hardware in Star Citizen (June 18, 2024) - article on Massively OP.
For reference, my rig has 32GB RAM, an Intel i7 CPU @ 3.61 GHz, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 GPU
We are just about to take down the TECH-PREVIEW test for tonight! The new hardware was working great but we have found an issue with code that isn't working correctly tonight and causing some mesh deadlocks which will require a new build. We are looking to attempt another run at this tomorrow morning (as early as 1500 UTC) with a different build that shouldn't have the same issues. Thank you all so much for testing with us!/quote]
We had a situation where Marketing wanted an incredibly aggressive MTX deliverable schedule and Costumes (a great seller) was big on that list. But the schedule was way out of scope of our current resources and output ability. But you can't just "say", that doesn't work for me and expect that'll work. (So after I freaked out internally, went home, and hugged my cat for a while, I went to the data.) You can't argue data.
I grabbed all the historical data we had on how long costume sets typically took, and plotted out a "real" timeline that revealed expectation vs. reality. The expectation vs. reality was weeks off. I presented the schedule to leadership, argued my point, made some recommendations for alternate options, and - because I worked with smart and reasonable men - my concerns were validated, we updated the schedule to be more realistic, and I was very happy. (And relieved.)
A Spectrum guy said this City of Heroes Q&A was interesting. They were right
Someone pull up the concept ship data![]()
Apparently, he didn't get Americans.Chris Roberts: "I want Americans, not American'ts"
Apparently he actually said that.
Not even the mythic Jabberwock would be capable to code the magic everything game - it just is impossible.
Stick that on a poster and get it onto Etsy immediately!Nothing is truly impossible if you can wave hands and con enough people out of sufficient cash.
Is that...behind you - It's the Bunny Man! Coming to get Asp Explorer! Run guys, run!Nothing is truly impossible if you can wave hands and con enough people out of sufficient cash.
Frustrated! What missions are actually doable at this point?
Hey all,
Im wondering what missions are completable at the moment. What are you having some success with?
A group of us played last night for 5 hours and only managed to complete 1 mission!
By then our 1 gaming night a week was done being more frustrated than anything. We made a total of 10K each, spent loads more and lost a lot of cool gear. We find that hand mining seems to somewhat bug free, but we like variety, as cool as the caves are and relaxing mining is, there has to be other things that work?
- Started with the XT event – which is now dead and impossible to do with a small amount people, unless you have the best fighters...which we dont. We QT’d to the wreck site, our ships don’t respond then explode, NPC ships lagging everywhere. It just wasn’t fun, and the issues killed it for us. That was over an hour trying.
- Headed to Hurston, started a bunker mission, it started out well, but our guns stopped working, the lag was worse than I've seen for a while and the NPCs were spawning so quickly, we had to abandon. Then trying to leave one our ships would only go backwards, fine, abandon ship. QT'd to the next location and the nav took me through the planet and kaboom another ship down.
- We decided to do something simpler, just to get a win... a research probe mission...easy..., spent 5 minutes getting and another 5 to land to find the Amazon terminal was bugged and wouldn't open, twitchy eye moment!
- Headed to Crusader, accepted a merc mission in the high-rise area. This worked well managed to complete the mission, hovered around waiting for everybody to get in their ships to leave and boom I exploded lost everything I spent 20 minutes looting.
So we fought through the building until I finally managed to reach the security entrance to the lobby. But suddenly I couldn't reload anymore. Had enough Ammo but after reloading still 0 shots on both weapons.
As I looted stuff all over the place I put all my stuff in inventory except the chest piece, which I could not remove, as it was highlighted white and not blueish as usual. After putting back the armor, all my gear was highlighted white and I couldn't put weapons back on. Couldn't even put them in my hands. It looked like the server somehow assumed I'm dead.
Therefore we called it a night and quit, 6 meters before the target, because I couldn't do anything.
How many hours going wasted does it take these guys to realise they are playing a really crappy game?3.23 Review:

Doesn't take long for SaltEMike, but then he seems to forget. How many hours going wasted does it take these guys to realise they are playing a really crappy game?
Honestly, that point was hit when they CHOSE CryEngine to make anything but a First-Person Shooter with."i wonder if there is some point at which they can’t ever fix the bugs in code developed over so much time without just starting over."
I'd suggest that, for the engine, this milestone was passed some considerable time back.
I wonder if the rotation grid interface has a solution. It's probably hard to find the borders and not a case that needs fixing?
