Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Is that how this works?
Knock out a hostile NPC, drag them into your ship, then into a station. Hit them with a medpen and get into cover. Instant pop-up terrorist with infinite ammo in a no-shooting-back zone.
There seems to be another trick to "loot" weapons into shopkeepers' hands but we couldn't make that work, yet.

It's almost like having an AI crew.

The mystery deepens 😁

So it seems that NPC performed the looting action on them, ending up with the exact pistol they had on their hip.

Part of me thinks that's actually a hacker though (because like, I've never seen NPCs run, aside from the joggers etc). But part of me hopes it isn't ;)

This is what success looks like...

When we say we are creating a creative industries cluster Enterprise City in St John’s Manchester , I am not sure we have really told the story , this afternoon I spent time with VERSA Studios partner Cloud Imperium Games , Allied London created this studio on top of Manchester Goodsyard , it’s now used to develop the worlds largest universe games .

The host is wrong though. The gambling imagery looks just right ;)

2 questions
Is that Mark Hamil in the white suit?
Is that pink-lit bar in the game?

They should just sell people tickets to this for the Star Citizen experience.

Haha holy Chris, I think it is 😁

(I recognise the tubing on the front of his suit. They had endless amounts of Chrissery over whether it should have 6 tubes or 4...)

And yep, I'm pretty sure that's an (actually) functioning replica of one of the bars from the game.

PS was just knocking this minor short together and...

That looks like a wee Bengal model in his office back in 2015...

So the models are getting bigger at least...

9 YEARS. FOR 9 YEARS they have had a "universe simulation". No wonder the ve'rSe is going bonkers after all this simulating.

What if the simulated NPCs voted to not take part in the game? Maybe Tony hid the Quantum server to protect his creation from evil players.

Sometimes, if you were going to have any hope of getting useful answers, there really was no alternative to modelling the individuals themselves, at the sort of scale and level of complexity that meant they each had to exhibit some kind of discrete personality, and that was where the Problem kicked in.

Once you’d created your population of realistically reacting and – in a necessary sense – cogitating individuals, you had – also in a sense – created life.

The particular parts of whatever computational substrate you’d devoted to the problem now held beings;

virtual beings capable of reacting so much like the back-in-reality beings they were modelling – because how else were they to do so convincingly without also hoping, suffering, rejoicing, caring, living and dreaming -

By this reasoning, then, you couldn’t just turn off your virtual environment and the living, thinking creatures it contained at the completion of a run or when a simulation had reached the end of its useful life; that amounted to genocide.“
