Elite Dangerous | Update 18.07 - 5th July 2024

"All Guardian modules", does that mean anti-Guardian protection can now be applied to interior modules such as the Guardian FSD Booster, not just weapons?
Why would you waste a slot in an AX ship for an FSD booster I don't know, but anyway, from the announcement text I understand that all guardian modules can be thus engineered.

Greetings Commanders,

A new update will be available for Elite Dangerous Live/4.0 on Friday 5th July. This update focuses on improvements to the Thargoid War experience.

Release Schedule - Friday 5th July 2024

  • 7AM UTC/8AM BST - Server off
  • 11AM UTC/12PM BST - Servers back online*

*Please be aware that these are approximate timings and as such are subject to change.

Features of Note:

  • Ram Tah has been hard at work continuing his investigations of the Anti-Guardian Zone deployed by Thargoids. His most recent breakthrough now allows all Guardian Modules to have the Anti-Guardian Zone Resistance modification applied to them, without penalty.
    • The reduction to Guardian weapon damage has been removed
      • All weapons previously modified with the damage reducing modification have automatically received the improved modification
      • The AX Chieftain prebuilt ship is now delivered with the improved modification
Titan Multiplayer Improvements
  • A number of improvements to Titan instance stability & improvements to the Titan venting cycle
  • Reduced maximum number of Thargoid Ships within Titan instances
Will this include the ability to shield Guardian Fighters?

Well I wouldn't use it on the FSD Booster personally, that was just an example. I'm more interested in being able to get that extra little edge from protecting Guardian Module Reinforcement packages.

Will this include the ability to shield Guardian Fighters?

I didn't even know that they were affected by the anti-Guardian field.

the Guardian Powerplant and Distro would sure be useful tho

Not sure about the Distro, but doesn't the Guardian Power Plant run hotter than the standard one? Would seem like a bit of a drawback, at least if one is going for a cold build.

Some one plz remind me how to get these materials again. I was stoked I didnt need them. Now my Shards would like to be upgraded.

Tactical Core Chip drop from Revenant/Banshee in Spire site.

Caustic Crystal rarely can be find near dead Titans or in caustic cloud near live Titan.

Hardened Surface Fragments can be gett from surface of Titan (if you close enough you will see it in contacts) by abrasion blaster.

Why not just try to collect them from a spire site? Do the local Revenants not drop those? (Never having shot one down over there, I wouldn't know.)
They're quite rare drops, I've only had one and some organic circuitry.
The short time to grab them means getting on the ground quickly if you take the Revs out with missiles.

What we really need is for Felicity to start working on how to SCO the old G5 drives.
How to add a Thargoid titan Drive to old FSD?

We have old AX weapons and new Enhaced AX Weapons, even if the first one are useless (exception, Sirius AX missiles), apply the same to FSD, both version with exist in future games. At least, the old FSD can be downsized for ship that don't jump (I have a cold miner cutter with 2E FSD), or have cheap options for new players (none of the D-rated FSD SCO and better are as cheap as old D-rated FSD for new players).

Buy the NEW modules, waste 1-2 hours farming mats if you don't have, and engineer a new bunch of modules with pinned blueprints, next go to any engineer with FSD knowledge for Mass Manager. Its a lot easier than a patch, FDev broke things each time they add a new mechanic for existing modules.
