Hi There, just started back yesterday after a very long break. Yesterday and this morning I had 5.2 billion credits (was saving for a fleet carrier b4 they were released but changed my mind and quit instead). I did a couple of runs in a high extraction zone to make a few credits and learn how to fly again. I cashed in some bounties and noticed I now have 5.1 billion. Somehow I lost 100 million or so. Am I going crazy or is this a thing.

I don't think credits just vanish. At least it never happened to me.
You might just misremember things. Maybe you bought something (like new ship or modules) before heading out hunting bounties? The difference between 5.2 billion and 5.1 billion might be smaller than 100 mil, so you need to be more precise.
Looking through journal files should help. You can find them:
c:\users\ username \Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous

I don't think credits just vanish. At least it never happened to me.

Thank you for the reply. I looked through the file but couldnt find the bit that showed credits. Anyway I looked on INARA and it said 5.1 billion (sept 2020) which was probably the last time I played. So either I got it wrong. Or it did say 5.2 (which was an error) and then corrected itself.

You can open the journal in windows notepad for example and try to find (Ctrl + F) "credits" . There should be timestamped entry at every loading of the game. Just check the files from recent sessions and you should find exact numbers.
