Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Good to see they're not just piling more stuff onto the roadmap and instead concentrating on getting the important stuff out.

Oh wait.... they've adding more stuff for Pyro 4.0 ...

Space Stations - Contested Zones

Contested Zones are a location feature coming to Pyro's space stations, introducing FPS gameplay with various layouts tailored for this purpose. The zones will feature a progression system requiring tokens to unlock different zones, giving access to the loot inside. Collecting all of the tokens will allow a player to open the final door and claim the grand prize.

Gotta fumble more dungeon raids into place for 1.0...

Isn't this supposed to be BDSSE? When I think contestd zone in Star Citizen I was thinking blockade runninga nd dogfights. They're focusing more on the 'Citizen' part than the 'Star'.

I am confused. I though that by the magic of Tony Zzz, if any location in the 'verse is "contested", it will be by simulation of events emerging from a complex, agent-based socioeconomic system.

Not from that pre-baked gamey nonsense from lesser MMOs.

Wasn't Tony Zzzzz been sidelined some months back?

For the first time ever I'm looking forward to seeing Tony Z...

(He's the last name on that insane list of devs I'm churning through ;))

Have some fun quotes I unearthed yesterday from Snr+ devs who left < 2yrs...

It was a roller coaster ride where I laughed, cried and met some wonderfully talented people. I wish the project the very best success.

Reworked the Levski asteroid base to accomodate new features, and scripted it for the 2016 live Gamescom demo.

Hmm, random guy I just stumbled on.

Only ever worked in mobile games etc. Got hired in 2022 as a Snr Gameplay Programmer. Currently...

- Making history by giving players memorable features in Star Citizen Persistent Universe.
+ Cargo Career: Freight Elevator Kiosk

I guess the cargo kiosk does invoke a browser-based rogue-like ;)

Not officially or publicly as far as I know. But Beausejour’s comments about the quanta system being on hold and Tony Z’s distinct lack of appearances in the last few years point to a very possible “garden leave” of some kind indeed.
12 Years A Sham. 12 years of - i guess - close to 6 figures yearly salary with the most tangible results are a bunch of glorified PowerPoints.

Spectrum...

Apparently the guide CIG posted is completely inaccurate.

CIG pushing a minor feature as a major one.

Low pop servers... surprise surprise considering the current state of the game. Also correlates with reduction in funding recently.

This part is weird. As far as I understand, and I may very well be misunderstanding it, servers by default should fill to capacity (or close enough) before spinning a new one, based on demand. As a result it does not matter if there are are more or less players online. Any active servers, be them many or few, should be close to full capacity.

If most servers are all of a sudden allegedly having low population this rather points to a deliberate decision to artificially limit that capacity in active servers.
