Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Wasn't there some chatter about Tony Z working on pre-production for a different CiG game?

My guy reckons he's been moved off SC and that the alt project is the likely place he ended up yeah:

  • CIG have a small skunkworks team working on a fantasy MMO. It is intended to broaden CIG's portfolio after SQ42 & SC launch. CR sees CIG as a successful name in the gaming world and is planning accordingly.
  • Tony Z is working on an unnamed project. Possibly the same one.

This part is weird. As far as I understand, and I may very well be misunderstanding it, servers by default should fill to capacity (or close enough) before spinning a new one, based on demand. As a result it does not matter if there are are more or less players online. Any active servers, be them many or few, should be close to full capacity.

If most servers are all of a sudden allegedly having low population this rather points to a deliberate decision to artificially limit that capacity in active servers.

Either limit or their load balancing isn't working and simply spreading over all servers.

I might be dehydrated, but reading the last two pages felt weird. Like I'm in a strange universe and struggling to make sense.
In my state of dehydrated delirious I have another great idea to complete Star Citizen. Send Chris Roberts on one of those reality TV show for 3-6 months. By the time the show is over the game might be finished.

Thinking back to earlier versions of this thread before Star Citizen had competition other than Elite Dangerous there were a lot of talks about how it's 10-100x better than anything else. Now, there's plenty of competion and Star Citizen seems forgotten, not even many people laughing about how over funded or poorly managed it is anymore. Looks like Star Citizen is only a significant thing in its own universe.

Any more info out there about this alleged fantasy mmo project by CIG? Pretty sure the SC community and game press would be delighted to know more!

It comes across to me as a way to show that they're not putting all their eggs in one basket, but the problem with that is that it's only taking revenue away from a game they're still working on that (apparently) needs all the revenue dedicated to it to fulfill all the promises and dreams.txt, so I'd be more concerned that because of this CIG would founder before SC is complete rather than less... That's if this side-piece actually exists, of course.

I don't know how credible it is but it's not like Chris Roberts had never used money meant for one thing for something else before. I don't believe for a moment he used his own money on this other project.

It sure doesn't come out of Erin's wine budget.
In my Soon upcoming Clown Imperium series, he Erich will have an Idris-shaped bottle opener, deploying its deadly cork screw.
