DLC18 discussion and predictions

How is keeping the tortoises in terrariums harmful? Genuinely curious.
Not terrariums as a whole necessarily. But most tortoises dont understand the concept of glass so they just keep running into it. Thats why you most often see tortoise housed in pens with solid walls, or if there are glass walls there usually is something laying infront of itthat keeps them away from it like a log

If I remember we had a thread for a wishlist for every country and the Vatican consisted of just rodents and ducks 😂
I want to find this now any idea where it would be.
Average planet zoo player forgetting both the Moose and Reindeer are found in the America’s
I will stand by my opinion that while technically a deer the moose does not fit a deer niche in a zoo game. Reindeer are technically deer from north america but they are generally associated more with europe or the arctic as a whole making them not really useful when someone whats to build an american deer habitat. Its really just a lack of a better word to say that the americas dont have a reasonable alternative to the style of deer europe has the red and fallow.
There's literally nothing stopping them from doing smaller animals like tamarins as habitat animals, it's a myth that the community likes to perpetuate but it isn't based on anything that has any technical relevance. There's nothing to fix, it works just fine.
They can technically do alot of things doesnt mean they are ideal at this stage adding the tamarin is just as bad as the existence of any of the other small animals we have such as prairie dogs and meerkats. The habitat system is overwhelmingly one sided towards large animals with oversized enrichment, everything having way too big Collison boxes and weirdly restrictive size limits.
guess that the tapir, peccary, llama and alpaca don't exist them.

If i'm being honest no latin america means no North and Central america animals, and im not that interested on the patagonia mara as most people here.
The bigger let down would be the absence of the spec bear, but we can't have only wins anyway, so...
I think its largely because the tapir we have barely and I mean barely has range in south america the llama and alpaca are domestics so therefore are so of displaced from their original source they dont count and the peccary even though it has more range into south america than the tapir is more associated with central america. A better term would be a predominately south american ungulate.

A latin america pack could definitely cover north and central america as there are still latin based countries in that area such as mexico though I still think a central america pack is what they will go with over latin america.

Central America could be an amazing pack going over beloved areas. It can bring coati's especially White-Nosed, Spider Monkey, and other animals.

Also came up with another concept pack, probably better than the last. Haven't really been feeling actually playing PZ and have had more fun making pack arts and concepts instead lol

But just imagine a nocturnal pack working the same way as barnyard where we get 30 new light up statues, fountains, trees, etc.

Love it with one exception...
Bat-eared Fox >> Coyote

One thing Canis latrans has going for it is some color variation potential...
From pure white, to black... And all shades of brown.

They also have cultural significance.
Still, not a priority for me... I'd rather get a jackal for the culture OR color variants for existing canids
  • Melanistic Maned Wolf
  • Wild Dogs
  • Piebald (ish) Dhole
  • Maybe white Timber Wolf...

Just did some more thinking for what I would imagine to be a Chinese Animal Pack. Of course not a likely scenario but a fun one to think about.

Everything shown on the poster is not official and made by me completely in Canva

Honestly Charlie, Frontier can juice PZ for another 3 years just basing DLC on countries. Minimal input but good result. OF CUX if thats the case, I want the chinese then india pack. Then they can knock themselves up with whatever south American animals.

Yeah i'm not sure how that works in PK.

In theory we could see a DLC potentially announced today.

Barnyard was announced on the 22.04 and then the stream was on the 24.04. So there is precedent for DLC to be announced this late before an Unlocked stream.

The only thing that is different is that on that occasion there was a post on the PZ accounts teasing the stream with ‘latest update on PZ PC and console edition’ on the 18.04 and we’ve had nothing like that. I suspect this stream to be dominated by PlanCo2.

Although equally that could be a good thing because if we’d had one and it just said ‘updates for PZ console’ then that could probably 100% rule out any PC news.

It’s unlikely, but keep eyes peeled today imo.

What's wrong with the meerkats and prairie dogs. For me they work perfectly and are some of my favorite animals in game.

Nothing it was a comparison point for tamarins which everyone is saying are impossible but realistically are only as impossible as meerkats.
Meerkats do have some problems like all small animals do any enrichment items and feeders not purpose built for them are huge and because of how the habitat space requirements and pathing works they need huge habitats compared to what is done in reality even compared to big real life habitats. This doesnt mean they are bad just have some flaws like the tamarins will.

Many of the models aren't perfect. I would not be surprised if tamarins occasionally clip through or float above objects. That's ok. Not everyone likes building for small animals, but some people do. It's nice to have some variety. The habitats for the new animals should look different from each other, which makes building for new animal packs fun.

I think I may have confused everyone I love building for small animals when not doing other projects I almost exclusively build for them. Small well detailed habitats are my favourites to build. They just in reality suffer from planet zoo not being designed for them but for large open habitats instead.

I agree that the most important thing for any animals addition into planet zoo is that it makes the habitats look different to what we already build and makes building fun. Tamarins will definitely do this as the will be some of the smallest animals be the smallest climbing animal and be a whole new type of south american monkey which will definitely change how we build for them.

I mean anything can happen, but I don’t even think they updated the outsource_iqa yet. It’s possible we might still get a teaser maybe, but IMO I highly doubt we will get any news.

Would love to be wrong though.

That's what I was thinking/hoping. :)
