Star Wars: Outlaws

The only thing I dont like is them calling it the first open world game or whatever. Galaxies was that, and had multiple star systems (even if only a few it counts!) and multiple planets and moons to wander around completely. Not super big worlds but still great, especially for the time. Why do they feel even the want to call this one the first? Also, this one, you only can be the one character? Or is there a character builder? Also...single player only? Ok, that's 3 things that irq me, woops. Still getting it though :)
Dang, wheres my EDO star wars mod?

I never pre-order games anymore, I've been disappointed by pre-ordering a couple times.
Generally I realy like the worlds Ubisoft creates, the level of detail, the atmosphere etc.
Ac Odyssey looked amazing imho and older titles like Unity as well, Paris looked stunning in that game.
Their gameplay isn't to complicated, which I like when I play a game to relax at the end of the day.

All in all Star Wars Outlaws looks fun, not mind blowing or setting any new standards but fun, in a Star Wars setting making it quite unique and very appealing.
I'm gonna wait for some actual gameplay reviews after the release of the game and then decide whether it's worth my money, 70euros isn't the end of the world, when I take the kids to the movies for three hours I'm happy to get away with it for 70euros.

Had a couple of hours this morning after reactivating my Ubisoft+ sub.
At the moment my personal view is...meh
I'd of refunded if I'd paid the full price because it just hasn't done enough to grab me in the couple of hours allowed for refunds.
As I've still got the next 30 odd days it still has time to entice me in.
Will see what happens

I'm just downloading it now on Ubi+...although I'm not expecting anything unique or groundbreaking...being it's a Ubisoft game and all that. I still expect I'll enjoy the romp overall given I enjoyed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (same game engine) and that they've cast off the shackles of feeling obliged to include some spooted yoof Jedi or Darth Vader in a Star Wars game :)

All the big reviewers who had the 4 hour early access preview a few weeks ago said much the same, they enjoyed their limited 4 hours with it for what it was, a somewhat linear, mostly open world Ubisoft rpg something like a hybrid of Jedi survivor and Uncharted 3 set in the Star Wars universe...nothing more than that.

I've tempered my expectations to suit from the bits and pieces I've seen of it up till now :)

As you said it’s a Ubisoft game. So was never expecting groundbreaking, just hoping for interesting. At least something to grab me.
Will have another go at it tomorrow.
Not in any rush, have a month to figure out if it will be worth paying for it down the line.

Had another hour or so last night.
Finished off the introductory mission and started to get a bit of a feel for things.
Then I had to get on the Speeder.
If you have, use and enjoy a controller then Speeder may be fine. If you don't, won't and don't then it really isn't. Will have a look at the settings later to see if the sensitivity can be turned down for the mouse otherwise that'll be it for me.

I'm a couple of hours in now and the game is pretty much what I expected.
It's a typical Ubisoft game with mostly Ubisoft mechanics, which I like BTW, I love the AC games.
IMO they capture the Star Wars vibe realy well which is the thing that makes the game unique for me.
I also like the absent of towers and the higher focus on quality over quantity.
It's not a ground breaking game and most mechanics are very familiar from previous games but imho that's okay, the Star Wars theme sets it apart.
One thing I particularly like is the addition of Nix your pet companion, he's extremely useful.

Graphics are fine and sometimes realy great, Ubisoft knows how to generate very good looking environments and the game looks alive with a great number of npcs doing their stuff, especially in the cities.

I love the Sabacc card game as well, it's incredibly addictive.

If I had to give the game a score now after just a couple hours it would be a 7.5 or 8, that might change though, I haven't played the story or side missions much yet, I've been mostly exploring and getting my bearing in the game.
Right now I'm having fun and that's the most important aspect of a game imo.

Yup, I'm still enjoying the romp overall. 8 out of 10 from me :)

For anyone using KB/Mouse control, you can disable Mouse steering for the Speeder in the settings.
It's at least vaguely controllable now.

Uninstalled for now. Will have another look in 12 months or so.
Biggest gripe (lots of little minor ones) is standing up after climbing a ladder. For a stealth(ish) game that's not particularly helpful. Doesn't help that hitting the crouch button straight after just puts you back on the ladder

Yes this happens also if you're on a ledge or cliffside, trying to be stealthy, and it makes you "hang" from the edge.

Totally enjoying this game so far. I had it on an HDD at first and it would take 8 minutes to load and wouldn't display a cutscene and then didnt display the game, even though I could hear it. Then I noticed at loading, it suggested it being on an SDD so I just copied the folder to my SDD instead and it loads in seconds and no probs.

And is it me, or since the last couple Jedi games and this, it seems Star Wars = 3rd person wall climbers for action? That's not a complaint, but seems they all have these traits. I enjoyed the wall climbing at the Olympics this year.

Can/will this ever be an MMO? I'd pay a subscription for it.

Thanks folks!
I think I can sit this one out until a really good franchise or publisher sale.
I've only ever played a couple Ubisoft games...Splinter Cell and Division 2 and those were fine though I didn't see end-game for D2 out of boredom

it is not only graphic, its the best representation of Star Wars worlds so far. Mos Eisley is spectacular

They did the graphics, setting and music (representation) well. There should be more playable character classes and make the world more interactive. I'm not so interested in Star Wars anymore after Disney corrupted the lore with various bad movies and tv-series.

I agree and I don't mind wall climbing or parcouring at all but the last Jedi game went a bit over the top in my opinion, I felt like super Mario with a lightsaber, for literally every bit of progress you had to climb there and/or figure out how to get there, it became to tedious for my taste.

I still like Outlaws, there are some bugs and they could've done without the fail state of some missions but I understand that the latest patch addresses this issue.
Overall I'm having a lot of fun which is the most important aspect of a game imho, Outlaws is no GOTY material but I think it's just a good game.

Of all things Outlaws should have had...a character editor. I mean, Kay Vess is nice and all...but that hair

I've no doubt the Nexus will sort it in due time...but as someone with really long hair who ends up looking like a dandelion clock if I go outside without tying my hair up or stuffing it under a crash helmet, it needs sorting :)

Yeah that hair....
They wanted to go back in time and give the game an 80s look, that's okay imo, it would've been better if they stopped at the 1900s though.

Ubisoft is great at nice environments and character animation. I think that's their one and only strength, they're definitely not into gameplay or any other kind of innovation.

When I saw Outlawd described as a stealth game I fianlly understood why everyone had been saying all Ubisoft games are stealth/sneaky games.

Not going to hold my breath, Ubisoft had been making games that are dificult to mod. I don't even know if games newer than Wildlands can be modded since they're online only. Even in Wildlands it was a pain to make weapons invisible so I can have 1 weapon only, and no way to do the same for backpacks.
