DLC18 discussion and predictions

All these cool animals and I am weirdly most excited about the possibility of getting the African Spurred Tortoise. 😂

Still hoping for a Coati at least. 😢
Third largest after the two from base game, can have distinct shell and colouring (fades and smooths with age), even has Albinos/Leucistics, so yeah, decent as Tortoises go.

It is also higher on the 2024 Meta-wishlist than both the Dik-dik and Sifaka, and is the highest tortoise on there. I'm guessing presence in zoos is the main part of that (694 zoos on zootierliste, vs 94 for the Dik-dik, 19 for the Sifaka, 199 for the Radiated Tortoise)

And unlike the two giant tortoises, this one is not a tropical tortoise, but an arid one which would allow us to create different habitats. They could be mixed with many African animals too.
On the Galapagos that's a bit weird, given it's got Savanna and Semi-arid in its range, it's even a prominent animal of the xeric shrubland (I guess base game didn't have the right plants at the time), but yeah checks out for the Aldabra one.

So if our roster is:
  1. Hamadryas Baboon
  2. Secretary Bird
  3. Short-Beaked Echidna
  4. African Spurred Tortoise
  5. Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
  6. Crowned Sifaka
  7. Kirk's Dik Dik
  8. Markhor
That would be quite a good pack IMHO, but who's to say it's not a bit bigger/expensive like the Ghostbusters pack? Maybe we do end up getting 10 animals, maybe not. There is always a chance the last exhibit animal could be for the WTE.

Let's also not forget the final free update, I suspect we will probably get one last education expansion. Although, it could be something related to the pack (not sure what with this roster.) Any ideas?
No coati, so it wouldn't be a great pack for me, but I can't believe a lot to this list, because it doesn't make sense : which theme emerges from this list ? What could be the name of a such pack ?

There are 13 animals missing from 200, if Frontier adds them they will also accept that South America is reserved for the second version of the game, BUT Coati is now a must have

If they go up to 13 they could still very easily give SA a huge boost. If we assume the 8 dictionary animals are fixed that leaves 5 spots. And a combination of coati, monkey, rhea, mara and ibis for example would catapult SA into atleast not being terrible and somewhat decent state

It would be a masterpiece for me. Best pack ever.
Patagonian Mara is soooo common in zoos (and super cute, like slight Capy), and Ibis would be perfect to make huge tropical greenhouses.

There would still be an exhibit animal I believe & wouldn't the (south)-american also be in the dictionary? So I assume it would mostly leave open species that don't need new words like: Howler Monkey, Spider Monkey, American Flamingo, Spectacled Bear, American Black Bear etc.

I mean, I would love a coati, rhea, mara & ibis as much as you, but I feel like it's not gonna happen :(

Honestly yeah getting those 5 would change this pack from kinda sucking as a final pack to a really great pack

Make the coati an old world monkey and this is a near perfect coverage of the old world + oceania in 13 animals.
Ofcourse there would be some blindspots like no duck, no pheasent or no australian monitor but all in all thats an extremly solid selection of critters.
Combined with 13 new world animals and id be sold

I’ll take it! Frontier do you want my money now or later?

My take on the 12-animal pack,
Black Howler Monkey
South American Coatimundi
Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
Hamadryas Baboon
Sectary Bird
Short-Beaked Echidna
Kirk's Dik-Dik
Markhor
Conqurel Sifaka
Sulcata Tortoise
White-Faced Whistling Duck
(Exhibit Animal) King Cobra

I actually don't think a 12-animal pack is super likely.

Eastern Hemisphere is I guess the best answer available, outside of people's choice. It's not perfect, with the Tortoise and Secretary bird ranging into the Western Hemisphere, though the bulk of their range is the East. If you add African Civet, that one's not purely Eastern Hemisphere either, but Impala is.

It's definitely not Environment or Conservation Status.

Yall are talking about a lot of South American Animals, but one of the most iconic South American species is barely mentioned being the ✨Green Anaconda✨

And idc if It's gonna be an exhibit animal but I want it sm- I do hope the update gonna have variations in exhibits although Idk how likely is that... still I want those gorgeous snakes sm

ofc King Cobra, Burmese Python, Pit Viper, Black/Green Mamba, Emerald Green Python and etc...
are so welcome to be the exhibit animal, but smth about the Green Anaconda feel like a must.. unless we going to get WTE animal and then oh well

I would love a green anaconda! We have got “aquatic” exhibit animals in the axolotl and the newt, so I still think for one of the largest River tributaries in the world we need some fish.

I would go for the red belly piranha, as I’ve stated before I would love to get these guys. Especially because I could make a cool giant river otter habitat, and then have my fish be across them. That way I can show off predator and prey!

Guys, remember when Frontier accidentally leaked the king penguin, grey seal, giant otter and sun bear on a video. We were wondering how the bear matched the other aquatic animals and, as we suspected, they belonged to 2 different DLCs. I know it's quite possible that we only have one dlc left, but it's not something confirmed 100% as most people are taking for granted. It's tiny, but there's the chance that we have more than 1 packs left.

Remember that with the Barnyard pack lots of people had to eat their words because they were saying it was obvious it was the last pack and some of us were in negation of reality. We have to wait to see what the DLC is, what animals it has, and see how it is called before we get disappointed or not.

Ngl of all fish frontier could randomly put into the exhibit as a standalone species, piranjas would work by far the best.
They arnt typically mixed with other fish, are big enough that aquiring one by one wouldnt be a chore while also being well visible in the way to large exhibit and they are defenetly among the most iconic fish on the planet.
Also unlike for example a clownfish they wouldnt need any other fish for a section, as they perfectly fit into tropical houses and especally south america sections as they exist right now, meanwhile having just one ocean exhibit would feel pretty weird and would literally be alone in its thematic area, creating a new one instead of supplementing an existant one.

So piranja defenetly get the rare s tier im my book despite being most likly an exhibit animal
