COMPLETED CG Defend Shinrarta Dezhra Against Thargoid Invasion

I did not get any emails about the end of the Shin Dez invasion, did I have to take a mission as well as contribute to the CG or did I just not earn enough bonds?
Their email system is broken a little, just like the game. I haven't received any emails except support replies for years. Frontier support has no idea why.

The CG isn't over. The in game mail everyone is getting are for participating in the successful defense of a system. There are plenty of other systems you can go help take back.

Yawn

(Unless they are trying to mislead or give us a false sense of security? Kinda doubt it though.)

"Work has commenced on bringing all system ports back online as quickly as possible. Requests for assistance in delivering commodities to the system have been submitted."

Looks like they are setting up the next CG. Gotta make those 2-week temp permits worthwhile.

They sure are. The side of my brain that cares for (subjectively) interesting events wants Thargoids to come back for seconds (but that would very likely result in an evacuation, not combat CG), the more rational one saw the two week permit (removal) as a “One week blasting Thargoids, one week repair deliveries” once reminded that the AX CG was only intended to run for a week.

That quote pretty much seems to seal the deal on what it will be, if it is not deliberately leading us down the wrong track. Am leaving my alt in place for now on Cornwallis (no Titan go park in that system now, ok Thargoids?), as I’m not feeling too bothered to go back to Raijin yet, but if it’s just hauling back to the Titan front I go on Thursday (or whenever I feel like it - definitely am going to try those Azimuth multis out either way).

So how are supplies of Beryllium in the area?
According to a quick search on inara, average. At best. There is one station within 25 ly that has a supply at 400k(409 to be specific), the next closest two are 216 and 186k… after that you’re already down to two stations with 60k supply, counting only large pads at least. Mediums are bound to last a bit longer.

I am always up for a trade CG... esp if there are skins or engineered gear up for grabs.
We’ve seen that thousands of times already(may be exaggerated figure, not bothered to check), just “Haul to fix station” would actually be boring. Nothing exciting from a story standpoint because you know nothing will ever happen to the system again when it concludes. But it is still worth saying that me being as far from a hauler as it gets (most of my trade rank is mining or RP-based support of trade CGs/running BGS delivery missions in the absence of other good alternatives) also likely colors my views just slightly.

… though unless the repair initiative is also hosted from Cornwallis or something, or it automatically provides a permit to contributors too upon completion (without needing to claim the CG), claiming the rewards from it would be interesting if you’re not Elite.

that said I did enjoy the thargoid killing even if I did only manage a few hrs of it.

Hey, FDev, here's a CG reward idea: make those ShinDez permits permanent for everyone who participates in both CGs.

It did occur to me that it would be strange for those who defend the system and/or assist in its recovery would then not have access to it (at least Jameson Memorial) even temporarily after what they did to help it out of the Thargoid pickle (and the immediate aftermath), just from not being Elite. Unless the shipyard and full outfitting are immediately available again, I kinda forgot exactly what the repair mechanism of stations does and doesn't leave active.

I would say permanent access could still require an Elite rank, but I don't see anything against an extension of the temporary permit.

Geez. Getting a rank of elite in anything is so easy these days.

So?

Exactly.

I mean, if I was the mayor of ShinDez and my system came under Thargoid attack, the least I could do is give the key to the city –quite literally– to every pilot who helped fight the invaders off and then stayed to help in the restoration. I wouldn't give two craps whether you have Elite rank or not.

Oh well, planned on partaking in this tonight but saw early in the day that it's over. I thought the bond total was high enough to keep it going for longer than this. Surely the Thargoids could <ahem> muster up some reinforcements to keep it going till Thurs, Fdev?

My question was always "how did the Thargoids know that ShinDez is an important system?"

Okay, in reality, FDev just made the invasion happen, and they know that it's important, but what's the in-game explanation for why the Thargoids suddenly showed up in ShinDez despite being in no other system for hundreds of light years?
They wanted a free Anaconda from Hutton but it was a lie so they went to somewhere they knew would definitely stock it …
