DLC18 discussion and predictions

Now, about feathery friends... What are our best options for a proper bird in a Highlands DLC? Himalayan monal is very cool and has been mentioned a lot, but any pheasant would make me happy too. Any good candidate outside Asia?
For NA there are some grouse species, quail, ptarmigans, and even wild turkeys could fit a Highlands theme - even though they are more of a woodlands bird.
No clue how common they are in zoos though.

Ayo hold up guys there's already a chinese lantern and pennant flag scenery piece in the game. I don't think they're a pack theme tease.
the lanterns are new but could just be the animals signs the flags arent they are in base game
Consider yourself lucky. I found both Twilight and Eurasia to be 100% skippable.
We all eventually see some packs that we just don't care about...but I'd say wait until we see what the whole roster is before making a decision.
the only pack so far that is 100% skippable for me is aquatic it is entirely a matter of perspective

But some of us can't rely on mods, mods has never worked for me so Frontier adding the leopard was my only hope
Plus I mostly play franchise
The part about pretending you got an african leopard was that you could just place the ingame leopard and voila, leopard.
Try doing that with a duck or the crazy thought of having more then 1 south american monkey.
Sure you could spam 5 capuchin emclosures, but id say thats leagues lamer and more dissapointing then pretending that our not even fluffy amur leopard is from africa

I'd argue the domestic turkey would be better only because I feel they're more common and they look like wild turkeys just chunkier.
I could be wrong, though

Oh? Need to rewatch. I watched it with too many (german speaking) people, maybe I got it wrong. I thought the aniversary animal will come earlier than the aniversary but the DLC would come on the aniversary. My bad.
Yup! I took the liberty of transcribing the key bits because I figure you aren't the only one who might have missed it. Haha...

"Just a heads up: The content will be releasing slightly earlier than the anniversary date ... Because there is something we want to show you. Something small. Just a tiny, tiny little thing here. So I want everyone to keep your eyes peeled, look out on the socials because there is something coming in the next couple of weeks and it's super duper exciting. We've just got a little teaser for you of something that's coming up soon ... And this will be coming out alongside the free anniversary update."

So they're releasinng the DLC and anniversary update at the same time (in effect, they're doubling up - releasing the anniversary update as the "free update" that goes along with the DLC).

Cloud forests work for the Andean bear, tree roo and coati.
They sure do! And, TBH, let's not ignore the fact that Frontier has a strong tendency to include animals very high up on the wishlist (not uncommon to have two from the top five) and the highest up right now is markhor at #7. Andean bear and tree 'roo are both in the top five and the coati is #1.

I still think the mountain coati would be an odd subspecies pick but... Better than nothing? I am so curious to see the community's reaction when we see the full roster. People are divided on this one right now, despite the picks being fairly strong. But if they implement a few other high-rated species picks and pick any oddballs wisely I could see the tides turning very quickly. (For example, the chinchilla or rock hyrax would make people really happy, I think; those two picks have very "I didn't know i needed this until I saw it" energy.)

You're impossible
Must be a hoot to be around lol

To me the anatomy differences between the two are too big to play pretend

I think the pudu is also found in the Andes, and I know ungulates aren't that popular rn, but I would absolutely love to get the Pudu in a mountains pack

Oh man, can you imagine another 3-6 months of "next pack announcement next week. What?! Why no announcement?"
If we have to do that then I'll regularly post this:

Let it die,.jpg

Are we thinking this is the last pack then or no?
Before the teaser I thought 100%. But now that it appears to be limited to a highlands-type theme, I'd say there is a possibility that we get one more to clear out the few remaining highly requested animals like Secretary Bird, Coati, etc.
I'd still say 80% chance this is the last DLC.
