Thanks DS, but I'm happy with my G2, I just want a way to keep using it. Also, as Helmut says:
That's exactly how I felt when I bought my G2!
My simpit is a work in progress. I'm fond of chopping and changing, adding new peripherals and retiring old ones. So, full disclosure, I was always going to replace the G2 eventually. But this 24H2 malarkey is forcing my hand ridiculously early! The G2 is a superb bit of kit. The resolution is still some of the best in class, it's reasonably light and compact, the sound is good, the refresh is more than adequate.
I like it. I like it a lot!
My plan
was to pick up a 5090, possibly a Founders Edition, around release, which is potentially January next year. That'll probably need a new PSU as well, so some modification of the PC will be required. I might add some extra storage at the same time.
I enjoy the whole process and I've already budgeted for it.
The whole 'bricking my headset' thing is a major spanner in the works!
I had hoped to get used to the new GPU, then perhaps move on to a Pimax Super, as early as August (birthday present to me!

) or when it releases, if later. I wanted to see what reviewers have to say about system requirements before pulling the trigger. No sense in buying a shiny new headset if my PC can't run it.
Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men...
New plan. I've disabled updates in Windows 11. The rig is running sweet right now, I think I can live with it the way it is. 11 has this
brilliant feature where you have to keep opting out of updates every few weeks, so I'll have to keep an eye on that, as well as anything else on my system that breaks for want of the latest version of Windows.
What was that about Linux users?
