DLC18 discussion and predictions

The island giants have a longer stride by virtue of being bigger, this means they cover more ground at a time. Plus, the average sulcata is as big as a brown-throated sloth. If the walkthrough exhibit is big enough for multiple sloths, it's big enough for multiple sulcatas.

The only reason that the Brown Throated Sloth wasn't Habitat Animal is due to the lesson Frontier learned with the Koalas, after they got criticized that main of their times they are on the ground. that is the only reason it has nothing to do with size- like there is so freaking reason to have African Spurred Tortoise in WTE- there is already the rig of the previous tortoises. For example why the Dwarf Caiman wasn't in exhibit? cause they already have the rid for crocodilians, the same with Tortoises. So there is literally no sense in making it in WTE. It makes more sense to have the Tree Kangaroo in WTE than African Spurred Tortoise- which ofc I hope It's not the case.
So if Frontier adding the African Spurred Tortoise (hopefully) It's defo a Habitat Animal.

Crocodilians are both more active (thus needing more space) and require bodies of water. The walkthrough exhibit provides neither of these.

Also, the walkthrough animal has to be safe for guests :p

Ok, this WTE debate is seriously getting, there should be 0 reason for Sulcata's to be in WTE, and even worse it makes them a less addition.

This clearly just copium so African Spurred doesn't take a Habitat Species. This is like borderline level of ludicrous. This shouldn't even be a debate.

Walkthrough Exhibits didn't even exist at that time- and African Spurred Tortoise is defo more active than the Galapagos or the Aldabra.
I mean, they're large tortoises. They aren't really that active by default. Sure they walk a lot, but they also spend lots of time sleeping; grazing; and basking. Not exactly requiring a lot of space.

Bro It's literally in front of ur face, sleeping, grazing and basking is smth that so many animals doing in PZ- like I don't get why u begging to Frontier to add African Spurred Tortoise in Walkthrough Exhibit. This convo doesn't make any sense since why would Frontier would do a new rig for it while there is a perfect rig for it already like make it make sense.

Again, I don't even want this. I just think this is something Frontier's gonna end up doing. The Hermann's tortoise could've been a litmus test for exhibit tortoises after all.

Girls&Guys, I know it sounds a bit crazy, but if...

If the "highlands" keyart, teasing Palla's Cat / Hamadryas Baboon / Markhor, was just the first clue for a bigger thing ?

They said something like "stay tuned for news in a couple of weekS" (the "S" is important). Imagine next week we have a teaser, with a same-style keyart, but now in a rainforest theme, with (just examples) Coati / Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo / Black Howler Monkey, and next week a new teaser in an "grassland" theme (Secretary Bird / Patagonian Mara / Grey Crowned Crane), and next week, etc.

For a BIGGER final pack, like "World Tour Animal Pack" ? 👀

Let me dream please...
It's sort of a waste of time and money to do multiple key arts, when only one gets used.

I do suspect that what we've been shown, might have been minorly edited to some degree, with more identifying stuff taken away or added.
  • If it's Highlands, then there'd probably be mountains in the background, and the objects and zookeeper might get removed/replaced (we have been talking about a Zookeeper's Collection for a long time, so they could very well just be poking fun).
  • If it's Old World, then there'd probably be more components from the Indian, East Asian and African sets, maybe Classic too.
  • If it's Zookeeper, then there might be another keeper, habitat fencing, staff buildings, and parts from the Classic & New World sets.
  • If it's Anniversary/Celebration, then there's probably balloons, and more festive type decorations.

In terms of the WTE debate, all the current animals in there use the vertical space, so a tortoise isn't really using that potential. Touching/having ground is also optional I think, though tortoises walking on air does sound kind of interesting. They could add their own ground I guess.

If it absolutely needs to be Exhibit, then Standard Exhibit seems like where it would be, even if it's a tight fit. Also wouldn't rule out a 2x2 or 1x2 exhibit if that becomes a standard thing for the larger stuff (it feels like a significant change like that would probably get mentioned over jelly cakes).

Overall, making it a WTE is strange, being more effort than remodelling and shrinking a giant tortoise, or remodelling and upsizing the Hermann's, all for an implementation people aren't really after (we've largely been asking for habitat reptiles, assuming they've paid any attention). They've certainly had the time to do it, so it's possible, but it's pretty objectively a waste of their resources.

Except the Hermann's Tortoise is less than a foot long, so it at least makes a little sense to put it in the box... small turtles, tortoises and animals in general are put into raised cases to make them easier to look at. The Spurred Tortoise is the largest tortoise in Africa and the third largest tortoise overall... more than big enough to justify cloning it from the other two habitat tortoises already in the game; an option that would surely be easier to go in than going the exhibit route.

Also, consider this:
The ideal enclosure for the African Spurred Tortoise is an outdoor pen where they will be able to construct a burrow. A fence of about 2 feet in height is recommended with some parts of the fence being extended underground. - Wikipedia

I didn’t think there was a more pointless debate than highlands vs celebration pack but oh boy was I wrong.

Seriously? We get news after 5 months and of all things we’re talking about putting a tortoise, a species we already have 2 of, in the WTE? Why has this debate lasted almost 2 days?! It shouldn’t be an argument, it’s a habitat animal.

I can almost guarantee you this is not something frontier is going to do.
