Your conspiracy theories of Planet Zoo

Hello, I haven't posted in a while but with the new DLC my mind can't stop creating speculation and theories about why this DLC...
So I invite everyone to post their theories as to why Frontier has made certain decisions behind the scenes.

First I'll put on my tinfoil hat.

1.- The reason why no birds or new world monkeys have been made is because they will be part of the attraction and advertising of the new game when Planet Zoo 2 comes out.
These animals need more complex animations so it is better to make players pray for these animals and when the new game is announced, players will feel heard in the announcement

2.- Frontier is going to use the animals left in the metawish list for the future game, so no Coatis or Walruses for a few more years (same whith Cobras and Chameleons in exhibits).
3.- That is why the last two DLC do not have highly requested animals, because they are saving the last popular ones for the next game, this explains the low popularity of the last animals.
4.- I also suspect that the Zookeeper pack is a mix of animals previously made from discarded DLC and animals that were replaced in other DLC, that would explain the lack of themes with important but not so popular animals for the last DLC, Frontier is taking out the leftovers that they had saved stuck with tape.

5.- Planet Zoo was profitable enough that around 2023 they decided to make the sequel in a few more years, which is why Frontier let time pass and stopped properly supporting the game, not only because of Planet Coaster 2 but because they prefer to spend that energy, animals and designs. for later

6.- Frontier hates me and that's why they didn't put Tamanduas in the game

WHAT ARE YOUR CONSPIRACY THEORIES? (remember to wear your tinfoil hats)

BYE, my planet needs me!

My theory about the Zookeeper's Pack is that it was intended to be a Highlands Pack, but an abrupt shift in focus meant that Frontier had to put Planet Zoo's support suddenly so Planet Coaster 2 got more focus. Whatever skeleton team was left finishing off PZ slapped in 3 African animals (as well as accidentally leaking their entries to the official dictionary) and called it a day. That also explains why we have so many more building pieces compared to the Barnyard Pack.
There was likely never meant to be an Exhibit Animal since there aren't exactly that many stand-out options for such a biome.

My theory is that they put all the resources into PC 2 after the Barnyard animal pack (wich has some great stuff and a lot of work put into the free update, but also very controversial choices and half-finished animals like the donkey) and after the backlash the farm pack got they knew they had to realease another pack fairly soon and so they took all the half made models from last year's DLCs (Arid, Tropical, Eurasia) of the scrapped content and give them a polish to pull out a "collection" pack. That's why none of the animals so far (except the bear) are looking all the good they should look if actual care was put in them. This feels like a grab bag of what they had lying around not finished and put together in this pack.

Is possible that a mountain pack was in the plans for the next DLC and that's why they left the palla's cat and markhor out of Eurasia and the baboon out of Arid and why we got the spectacled bear.

This would explain why we actually are not getting any of the stuff we were actually been asking for the most for the past 2-3 years: more birds (ducks, pelicans in particular), NWM (why going for a sifaka then when a NWM was probably easier to make? the sifaka had to be partially done for them to pick it), more south american fauna (coati, mara, rhea, nwm), the tree kangaroo, secretary bird, etc.

We did get the bear and baboon that were in the top 5 i believe but none of the top 3 animals of the META wishlist. That is EXTREMELY weird for a final pack.

That makes sense, sifaka on lemur rig, easy tortoise clone and downsized saiga

If you’re sour about the pack that’s fine but this criticism just doesn’t make sense.

As has been said many times, sifakas are totally different from the other lemurs. They’re the same animal in the same way that the swan is just another flamingo/crane.

The pack doesn’t live up to my hopes either but it’s not more or less duplicate than earlier packs.

My conspiracy theory is that there’s a secret society that has infiltrated every major zoo game so far and ensured that the markhor is added in all cases. Of all the animals present in ZT, ZT2 and PZ, this is definitely the most unexpected one. Maybe there’s zoo games without it but they didn’t sell that well. In other words: without the markhor you’re bound to fail.

wdym the sifaka (in game) looks identical to the other lemurs we have aside from coloration and many fur differences.
Edit- I love to have the sifaka in game just not the way frontier made it. It’s my 3rd most wanted primate.

I'd say that the sifaka would have much more TLC if the skeleton crew wasn't being pushed to end PZ before PC2's launch. They might've just picked sifakas because "we have 3 lemurs to work from so we should be in good hands" without actually having the time investment to do them justice.

Everyone would have loved its addition if it wasn’t this low of quality.

My theory is that for the final pack, instead of a normal master plan for a theme and picking the best-fitting animals (as I imagine this could work) they just asked the crew members for their favorite animals and what each person would like to see before the game ends. So maybe part of the team wanted to add highly requested animals like baboons or Andean bears. Maybe they read comments under Planet Zoo's social media from time to time and they were like, yeah, those will be nice and reasonable choices. :) There was also someone whose kids absolutely love sifakas, so this person chose that. Fair enough :giggle:

And then there was this guy who always must be funny and he chose Dik-dik as he thought it was the most hilarious name and the game needed some humor. And that's how this antelope got into the game. Here, that's my theory

My theory is Pallas Cat could have been done more realistically, but Frontier deliberately decided to make its facial features better resemble a household cat in an attempt to drive sales. They had to have known the Pallas Cat was the least realistically depicted animal in the pack, yet they used it as the headliner animal.

I think they don't always strive for realism before all else. I think the base game male lion, for example, was done in a cartoonish way because Frontier thought it would help the game sell better than if the model was realistic and menacing.

Yeah defintely get the vibe at least that the zoo keeper's pack was cobbled together from what was original going to be a highlands pack, and left overs. The Highlands pack - four animals that showed up on a lot of Highlands pack lineups: Pallas Cat, Hamadryas Baboon (or Gelada, which is similar), Markhor and Spectacled Bear. Low and behold, they're all in this pack.

The other three (or maybe four with the H Baboon), are very random but 3 of them would have worked for the arid pack. Maybe they were leftover animals that got to a point in design that they still had them able to be used.

The Sifaka I'm not so sure where that may have come from and it seems like the worst addition to the pack considering the huge push for New World Monkeys. And yes, I think it is a comparable enough animal to justify saying that it easily could have been replaced by getting a new World Monkey into the pack.

So I definitely think this was some leftovers.

There were supposed to be Desert and East Asia/Russia scenery packs, and maybe an African Animal pack but got cancelled/reshuffled for God knows which reasons

It wouldn't surprise me at all if this were true.

With all my duck posting and saying I’ll pay full price for the white faced whistling duck Frontier said:

“Ok, but be prepared to pony up for this sequel whale-boy! If you want birds we will give you birds!”

Nor really a theory, but SA pack originally featured different animals.
1. There is concept art of jaguar being part of base game.
2. There is concept art of giant otters in SA pack. It also features jaguar and capuchin for that matter.
So overall it means there used to be at least 3 SA pack variants:
  • without jaguar and with giant otter
  • with jaguar and giant otter
  • with jaguar and without giant otter
Third one is what we got.

You know... The thought crossed my mind and then my hope reignited that if this were Frontier picks we might have a part 2 of sorts with community picks... But then i think the theory that most of these animals were left overs from other packs makes more sense to me.
