One thing is funny though, some people are finally finding out what CR's vision is after all these years. Someone pointed out, if you go back and read a lot of the old design docs, there was a lot of this sort of stuff that is ultimately time wasting stuff. Can imagine a lot of backers never read any of those, especially later backers. They just saw the flashy videos and hype and bought in.

Someone asking about SQ42 at the con... for sure, its coming sure, just like every year.

Oh boy, someone using the same excuse they use for SC for SQ42.
So, SQ42, which was going to be this AAAAAA single player sci-fi epic as pitched back in 2012 is going to be even more AAAAAAA! An average game in 2016? Nobody, but nobody (well, not CIG and fans) said it was going to be an average game in 2016. Its same when they retcon history to say the original pitch for SC was going to be a mediocre game.

Why does it seem like we keep getting nothing but more time kill mechanics? - Star Citizen Spectrum
Just tried to do a hauling mission. Should have been super simple but it took forever. Get out of bed, wait for elevator. Get to train station, wait for train. Get to spaceport, wait for elevator....

Star Citizen: It’s Not Time-Killer, It’s Immersion in Space - Star Citizen Spectrum
Some players may mistake the depth of Star Citizen’s mechanics for "time-killing," but that depth is what makes the game truly immersive. Star Citizen has always been a unique experience. In other...

Anybody has the source on the "stop ship sales after launch"? - Star Citizen Spectrum
Hi, quick disclaimer, it's not intended to be somehow weponised against CIG or anything, but I do remember this being promised and have no actual proof as to it. I already tried going around the...

One of the mega faithful chipping in:
The whole "balance is already thrown out the window so it's still fine to sell released ships after launch" is pretty much debunked when you consider that once SC actually releases, all of us backers will become a very small minority of the playerbase. I know release is hard to imagine right now, but SC reaching its potential means interest in the wider gaming community is going to skyrocket. Thus, any kind of "OP nature" that's there from some backers having a lot of firepower really becomes insignificant in the grand scheme of things as backers will be outnumbered 5:1 or even 8:1...or higher! That's not to say that backers won't necessarily form the core of orgs predominantly filled with players that come into the game after 1.0 launch, but it's not going to be as big of an advantage as one would think.

SQ42 at Citizencon. - Star Citizen Spectrum
Hi all, I don't spend much time at all in game and have only spent a handful of hours in the PU over the last few years. I was fairly disappointed with my time in 3.23 and still feel like Star...

SQ42 was fully reboot after 2016. Reworked from scratch. And probably after 2020 once again (at least in large parts). Each time because they got more money, so bigger ambitions.
Instead of having an average game in 2016 or an AA game in 2018, we'll get a fully AAA game with great cut-scenes.

And this pathetic excuse is used for? what exactly? It's still 13 years in development, no matter how many time they restarted from scratched. We count from the kickstarter. If they started AGAIN from scratch now and it took only 6 years to develop, would you STILL lick boots in 2029 and say how wonderful and magical it was that it took only 6 years to develop SQ42?
