Possibly the most surprising thing is that given hardware under their complete control, and software under their complete control, and multiple QA people under their complete control they still could not run the demo without 3 crashes.

What are the chances of them ever pushing this out to the public at an acceptable quality level?
But VOIP and bouncy hair looked better than ever!
 
There's no way it'll actually play nice in the PU though...

Yeah. SC has a lot of levels of implausibility:

  • They're showing it as a sketch - they basically just thought it up yesterday
  • They're showing it as a pre-render - they haven't got it into the game - it is years away
  • They're showing it in-engine - it will work as well as every other NPC - i.e. not at all
  • They're showing it in-game - it will crash the game, because CiG

One year after they told everyone that SQ42 was "feature complete" they still needed everyone to work like slaves to showcase it in unplayable form.

Who knows what Chris Roberts could achieve this time next year with a team of actual slaves polishing those features 24/7? Backers spend big on faux development they love the vertical slice so much and Chris stuffs it in their silly faces! Mmmmmmmm the game you dreamed of but...in mock form...

While I can’t say for sure how Chris would react, I am absolutely confident that Sandi will be tickled!
 
Ok, so Castra has only 2 planets https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/R4jxkAd8El-castra-system . Even Nyx has 3 planets. Almost like they chose the next systems based upon how smol they are, rather than how much people wanted them. I'm not saying they expect problems with server meshing, but ...
They could have created systems with 10 planets but nope.
Is Terra supposed to be Sol? Are they goign to ahev 3 planets there write some lore about the other planets being depleted though resource exploitation?

Chris Roberts will never let his people mock him like that.
 
The demo was probably aimed more towards the Calders than the fans.
Was just thinking about this. After that, with a delivery date of 2026, I'm sure the Calders are reaching for that 2025 button....

Chris seemed to genuinely be surprised by the crashes because he (and QA) had played through the whole thing recently, so it is interesting the announcement was 2026. I guess that means that the rest of the game is is a worse state than the intro ... which crashed multiple times in cut scenes ...
Gotta say, disappointed at the gathered Citizens. No cries of:
"Is it installed on an SSD?"
"Did you delete your profile?"
"It's an A L P H A!"

One thing I did like...the planet tech demo, not that we'll ever see the majority of it of course...but the presentation was nice with some good ideas sprinkled around the demos shown :)

Yeah the graphics are pretty. Props for continuing to upgrade the graphics to current gen game standards. The gameplay is mediocre and the bugs are bad.

Lol, they just hosted the 'Live Gameplay Reveal' on their YT, and it has the crashes edited out, and the Scully bug replaced with a clean take...
