PP2 question: If you pledge to a faction, will npcs of other factions automatically attack you if you enter their system?

If the answer is "yes" that would mean that players who are active fuel rats cannot engage in PP2, which would be quite a limitation. An entire huge new feature would be effectively inaccessible (at least unless one stops being an active fuel rat).

(I suppose that from an in-universe point of view it kind of makes sense: Fuel Rats are supposed to be neutral and blindly rescue any commanders who need help completely regardless of who they are or what they have done or who they are pledged to. A bit like firefighters. However, from a meta perspective not being able to participate in one of the biggest updates in years is quite limiting.)

"Cannot" seems a bit strong here.

- so far as I know, the Fuel Rats will carry out rescues in Thargoid space, where the Thargoids will attack both the rat and the client
- all uninhabited systems are automatically neutral for Powerplay; well over half of inhabited systems are also likely to be neutral at the start of PP2 based on what we're shown, and that will take a long time to change (and might change downwards rather than upwards)

I’m going to agree with Ian here. “Cannot” is far too strong a term here. It’s far more likely that if the answer is “yes,” you’ll have to change the builds of your ships to include stronger defenses, so you can accomplish your mission while under attack.

This assumes that you fly in a manner that practically guarantees you’ll be attacked by NPCs in the first place. Not using the six second rule and Supercruise Assist eliminates most of the threat of NPC attack. Effective use of Supercruise Overdrive should eliminate the rest.

Oh, how wonderful it would be if we were given the opportunity to launch a fighter on planets and explore on it with the possibility of landing

When and if that happens, the game will finally have the tech to have a large ship carry the Sidewinder as a scout 👍 It's basically the same thing.

You're talking about ships aircraft carriers as an offshoot of large ships it would be fun but for this the frontiers need to give a powerful kick between two hills

Can a streamer explain what Powerplay Hunters are in this context? Also, what was the probability and capability of 'higher end ships' for Power security before the change?

I have to say I'm a bit let down on the face of it, given personally I was looking forward to NPCs with teeth. I understand the need to balance this all out but....what about people who want it? Some of these changes I get (engineer bases and excessive SC interdiction) but.....eh. Please don't nerf it all into PP V1 useless NPCs again :(

"Greetings Commanders,
We're pleased to announce that Elite Dangerous: Ascendancy is now scheduled to release on Tuesday 29th October! Exact timings will be shared in the coming days".

So just to re-cap, What are we all actually expecting in this Ascendancy update next Tuesday?
Being able to actually acquire through the game (either with credits or Arx) the T8 and Mandalay respectively)?
Power Play 2?
Some other content or features not as yet announced or generally revealed.?
Additions to the Frontier Store in connection with this update, for example new ship skins, decals and perhaps some more starter ships (other than the two most recent new ones).
References in game, (but most likely reserved for the next livestream) to the fourth 'new' ship in the game.*

*This might seem an odd statement, but to 'whet' peoples appetite, and conjure up some prior speculation (hopefully positive in nature), It would be interesting to see FD throw a few well disguised hints possibly in the games bulleting / mission boards, Gal Net etc etc....perhaps even by some reward missions for 'sensitive data' about a new design of ship or of manufactured components of a 'classified' nature (in respect of this new ship).
One could surmise that even just on a component level a few hints could be 'leaked' about the final use of these components. Just enough info to get players speculating about what type of ship is being manufactured. These Hints' would obviously have some truth in connection with the new ship, but of course be so vague in nature that until more conclusive evidence is obtained (which can still be of a vague nature) the exact type, size, use function and performance (module, component ) remains unknown until Frontier Devs decide to showcase it and release it into the game world.

I think, you have a lot of asnwers for all questions. Streams, forum threads and youtube. Parnters have acces since more than a week.

And about new things. I think Frontier Unlocked (30.10) will tell us more. I like to speculate, but I understand how speculation can overrise expectations.

the main thing is that at least they meet expectations and at least a little promote the game to the masses not only in their own country but also in other countries

Mandalay for Arx, yes. T8 for Credits uncertain - that might be a later change (3 months after appearance to match the Python 2 would be early November)

Power Play 2?
Definitely that.

Whatever they have planned for Cocijo in the Thargoid war seems a safe bet; could be quite a range of things, of course.

Probably a bunch of "minor patch notes" things, as usual.

Well, there'll probably be a few Mandalay cosmetic options at least. More starter ships is also a possibility, though with the Type-8 taking the "freighter" role they've got most of the existing professions covered already.

For all we know they already have - these things are always more obvious afterwards.
