Crab Nebula graphical weirdness

Arrived at the Crab Nebula yesterday and found it looking like the following images. Certainly wasn't like this last time I was here a month or so ago, and I've not seen anything similar at other nebulas I came through over the past weekend.

Any thoughs...anyone?

I think Frontier did some funky stuff changing/updating certain textures with the PP2 update - I’ve noticed some nebulas looking different in the distance, and you may want to look at the Milky Way a little more closely as well.

Graphics settings? Hardware specs?

Nowt to do with that, unfortunately. That would be too easy. It's just the Crab Nebula. I can even see the same 'blockiness' zooming into the Crab Nebula on the galaxy map. One, no other nebula (that I've looked at) shows this behaviour, and two, as I say, it was fine a couple of months back on the last visit.

Out of interest, what happens if you zoom right in on the Crab Nebula in the galaxy map? Any oddities there?

Hmm...maybe. Could make sense, given that it wasn't like that before, and I'm only seeing it with the Crab Nebula...

Haven't seen that but I haven't checked that nebula. The patch notes do mention making the background skybox clearer, which so far I think (I think) has made the galactic core look better than before. But I've not noticed any weirdness. i'll zoom in on that nebula next time I'm in the game and see if I can see it.

maybe make Elite rebuild its... whatever it does when you remove the GpuWorkTable.xml in the game directory? Maybe that helps.

As an aside, the new look of the galaxy backdrop is awesome!

It's a bizarre one. It's just the Crab Nebula. I guess they might have fiddled with the textures for it. shrugs No big deal overall since it's just one nebula I'm passing through out of the whole galaxy. :)

Cheers. I've just tried that and let it rebuild. No change though...

Well it was worth a try. How far is the crab nebula from the bubble? Is it close enough to be able to just check it out?

That builds the graphics profile that is used for everything, so if one nebula is showing properly they all should be. It's clear looking at the galaxy map that the texture used for the crab nebula is a low res one.

It's around 7KLys away from the Bubble. As I mentioned, I can also see the same blockiness if I zoom right in of the nebula on the galaxy map, so you don't need to go there to see it. Well, I don't. :) On that basis, it appears to be a texture issue with that nebula. Maybe just for me though. Very odd...

Yeah, that's looking patchy as well.
Yeah and that was me being kind and getting the least blocky angle I could.

I did check other nebulas and they look whispy and blended. Went back after changing galaxy map to high quality and the Crab still looks like Tetris.
