I really regret not doing PP 1.0

The 2nd Nerfhammer came down today. The amounts that the stations are offering for rares have been reduced by up 80%(Soontill Relics). To top things off I have no weekly assignments message. COMPLETELY BLANK! SO There are no assignments to get merits with, a drastically reduced amount of rares to trade, and there's only 1 Titan left. Where's the gameplay? Nerfing is not content creation.

BTW...settlements are void of loot and data to download. I don't know if this is a bug or intentional.

You may wanna check Codex > Powerplay > Activities.

Did you read the tutorial on the PP screen and then on the map?
To answer your question with an obvious answer, not really. Tell me how is PP 2.0 affect loot and downloadables in settlements? My favorite activity has been...nerfed?

And did you check to see if the stations were experiencing a boom state before and after? Everywhere I've seen today with reduced stock meets that criteria

But it's far easier to repeat the "nerf!" cry than checking on why something happens. Also:

its fake news, all rare spawn allocation ( how much it is available every 10 mins) has been reduced. Depending on the amount before it went down by 80% for soontil relics 75% for diso/orrere brew 50% for Lavian brandy etc...
It has nothing to do with boom status

I agree. They're trying to balance PP 2.0 and failing. Some activities give you no merits whatsoever, for instance settlement raids. 1 merit for a kill with 10k+ bounty and it doesn't scale. for instance the 80k bounty is not 8 but still 1 merit, under 10K no merits

Kinda start regretting it a bit too. Had this nonchalant attitude: yeah, I did not need packhounds for the past 10 years, why grind them now, I’ll just get them under the new system if I’ll really want’em.

Well…

Do you really think Frontier has someone sitting there tweaking in real time what the supply of rares are at a given moment? The claim of "rares were nerfed" has been around for days because Orrere didn't offer a boatload of whatever they offer anymore. That broad claim was demonstrably false of course, because other rares were fine. And now they go "hmmm people now trade Soontil Relics? Hold my beer!"? I don't think so. If they choose to nerf it, they do it in one go.

Lastly, I know the wiki isn't always the most reliable source, but if you believe what it says, here it is:
https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Rare_Commodities said:
The state of the factions in a system can now affect the allocation total of rare goods. Conflict states (War, Civil War, Election) will reduce production. Other states may also lower production: Bust, Civil Unrest, Lockdown, Outbreak, Expansion, and Retreat. Boom temporarily increases production.
Ngurii had a faction in boom before the weekly tick, and now has two factions in civil war. I can't be bothered to check for other systems, but there you go. Make of it what you will.

The enormous amount of merits I need to get every I want will take me more time than I want to spend grinding. So right now the reward seems out of reach, for the time being. I'm not some Chinese kid sitting in an internet cafe with a Redbull IV attached to my cranium, I only have a specific amount of time to play so, why play PP 2.0 if there's no reward(I don't need cash or materials)?

I don't see the proof you're implying when you say "demonstrably".

Yes, system state does indeed influence rare commodity quotas, but not on a scale of 128t-16t. Why do you think it's out of the question that Frontier did change some values? It doesn't have to be "real time", 24h a day. It's a single change to adjust the max value.

And only some rare commodities were changed, because only some offered those high quantities like 128t or 80t. The more common value of ~30t is maybe totally inline what Frontier think is a fair value per effort.

I'm happy to be actually proven wrong, but I do think that it looks like Frontier did indeed bring some outliers back in line.

It was broadly claimed that "rares were nerfed". Not "rare X was nerfed" but "Frontier ruined rare trading and broke powerplay". Which was demonstrably false. While people were spinning the nerf story, you could happily buy 80 units of Soontil Relics or 48 units of Heike Tea at a time. So those were fine, and the broad claim of a nerf was false.

I am not saying it is out of the question. I am saying: Before you cry "nerf" without having tangible proof maybe look at what else could influence the supply. And system and faction states do.

Not saying it's not happening 100%. But those crying "nerf" every time something changes usually supply no proof beyond finger pointing. The BGS mechanisms at least offer some proof that it might be just normal BGS fluctuations.

Remember how people cried "nerf" when Aria's Mine was flipped away from anarchy? Yeah, that "nerf" also didn't happen.
