So I just tested exobiology and exploration, and it's been nerfed into the ground. Hard.

Over at LYR and here at Pranav Antal, we have respectively, exploration and exobiology "perks". These are utterly worthless for merit earning after the "re-balancing".

I went on a quick jaunt 1500 ly to find first discoveries.
When I came back:
  • I turned in exploration data worth 2 million credits and got 20 merits.
  • I turned in 35 million credits worth of first discovery exobiology collected AFTER 6pm on the 7th and got zero merits. This is a bug
  • I turned in 293 million credits worth of first discovery exobiology collected on the 8th, and got 140 merits.
I returned to the bubble after an elapsed time of around three hours total play time.

Exploration is not worth it at all. You can hand in one donate mission and get 27 merits in literally five seconds. kill one NPC in five minutes and get 60 merits. Three hours, and 20 merits for exploration. That's actually insulting.
Exobiology is not worth the time invested, unless you're like me and you're doing it for non-merit reasons.

FDev, either rebalance it again, so that the time invested is worth the same as rares/hr or a similar risk activity, or give us different perks, because the ones we have are worthless.

So I cannot be gaslit by all those who don't believe me, I recorded it.

They have not stated rebalancing is complete yet, so maybe get over it?

Edit: missed a "t"

exploration data worth 2 million
This is one planet's worth. It's ten minutes to get this level of exploration data.
293 million credits worth of first discovery exobiology
Three exobiology samples worth... Possibly ten grinding non first discoveries. Yes this takes time even if you're efficient. 2-3 hours checks out as maximum.

Scale of hand-ins need to be managed down rather than nerfing the ratio. Weekly merit cap on data would be better to stop sniping with huge hand ins.

Are you kidding me?

I had the same issue. 0 merits after 2 deliveries of exobio and severals systems
This is a huge bug/issue... that should never happen! Especially after they closed it and reopened it. It was supposed to be safe and clean.
What they really need is more players on the test servers to get a better view of what they have and what players are doing or capable of doing.

just to make sure: did you hand in old data or new data collected after 6:00 pm UTC (that's game time) of the 7th? After the reactivation only new data counts. And don't forget the timezones.

well I am aware of that link. Question was: Were you at the time of handing in? ;) I take it as a "yes".
Of course. I had old data that was mixed with new data, but you can segment deliveries and, not content with this, I tried again this morning and the result was the same.

Regards.-

You know, I thought FD was getting the message when they rebalanced engineering to be more sane. Then they pull this. Apparently you're meant to take years to rank up a power and never change your mind which one you like.

The saying had always been "nobody explores for credits", now it's also "nobody explores for merits".
Not that I mind. Those are just the cherry on top.

For reference, the usual estimate had been about exploration producing somewhere around 20 million Cr per hour. Might be somewhat higher now. Exobiology... would vary wildly. Still, a single undiscovered Stratum Tectonicas, which aren't exactly rare, will get you a hundred million.

I wonder if they would even fix it, man, if we don't communicate that we think it's too low.
I'm sure they will, given time to do so. PP2.0 is their biggest thing right now, so they're taking the time to slowly get the balance right. A bunch of impatient people complaining that it isn't perfect NOW is not helping.

Anyone who doesn't think they will ever fix it may as well leave the conversation. In their eyes, there's nothing worth discussing.

lol. You're funny.

When you can get 27 merits for doing a donation from the safety of your local stronghold station in 5 seconds, and there's 20 merits for exploring for several hours as the comparison activity, something is very, very, very wrong.

When you can get nearly 70 merits for a single NPC kill, five minutes tops from undocking even in a different system, and you get 140 merits for doing three hours' work? Something is very, very, very wrong.

When you can get 280 merits for doing a load of rares in 20 minutes, something is very very very wrong.

That I got more merits docking just now by unhacking a sign (20 seconds) and scanning a NPC whilst docking than I did for three hours of exploration? And there's nothing worth discussing. lol.

Not really for Kumo, I love exobiology and exploration, but yeah, gonna shoot fighters at your strongholds instead. This is why we test. I'll get back to exploration / exobio when it's un-nerfed.
Didn't see anyone tonight... you sure it was one of ours? :ROFLMAO:
