Cobra mkV vs Python vs Krait

What are your predictions about how the new Cobra will fit into the existing niches created by the above-mentioned ships. Personally, I'm shaking my head, because if we see, for example, the Krait Mk2, in terms of flight model and acceleration, is very similar to the famous Cobra mk3. In one of the last topics, I asked a topic with a slightly provocative thesis that the Krait mk2 is a somewhat useless ship today, to which many of you replied that it is a great AX ship and a solid multirole, although not as capacious as the Python, which is all true. So where do you think the new Cobra will fit in?
Will it be something like the Krait mk2 with a more refined SCO drive? In my opinion, the Python will remain the undefeated king of its multirole category, and the Cobra mk5 will be a smaller-medium ship, I bet on the modularity of the Dropship and flight properties similar to those offered by the Krait and Cobra. Oh, I forgot to mention Mandalay, which also presents itself as a multi-role ship, doesn't that give you a headache? o7

I think it will fit in the same way all the various models of cars, planes, motorcycles, boats, etc fit in the real world. There'll be overlaps, some things that are objectively better at certain things than others, some things that are objectively worse, but fun regardless, and everything in-between. Not everything has to have a specific niche or purpose. There's enough ships in the game now where it really does come down to personal preference over number crunching. Fly what what you enjoy flying, and don't worry about whether it's meta or not.

As for the Cobra Mk.V specifically, I can see it making the Asp Scout objectively obsolete in the same way the Type-8 did the Type-7. It'll likely be more in competition with the Asp Explorer in terms of where it sits in the hierarchy, but with more focus on multi-role; maybe less jump range, similar internals, SCO optimisation.

My guess: No-fighter mission runner/all rounder, smaller than krait II, lots of hardpoints, only just a medium, like a mini Python I but way faster and cooler running. Also with great SCO range and efficiency.

SCO is a given. Guessing same hard points as Python/Krait. Possibly similar capacity to Krait without the SLF.
Generally another flavour of DeLacey.

I am pretty sure that this new Cobra MKV won't be a side grade of OG Cobra but a full upgrade over it. Reason - new FDev team knows what they are doing.

Expect 4-6 utility slots because this new FDev team has learned recently, that the more utility slots there are - the more happy and willing players will be to buy it.
Expect it to be faster than OG cobra, and expect it to have 1 more internal slot to mimic the Cobra MK IV advantages. Both Cobra MK III and Cobra MK IV will be completely obsolete with release of Cobra MKV. And that's not a bad thing. Not at all.

Overall it has to be designed with the same philosophy with which they made Mandalay.

Possible optional internals most likely 10 in total:

3x 5 class slots
2x 4 class slots
1x 3 class slots
3x 2 class slots
1x 1 class slot

Hardpoints:

3x M
2x S

Core internals:

Power plant - 5A
Power Distributor - 4A
Thrusters - 5A
Frame shift drive - 5A

Something like this.

Daaamn.
TBH, looks more like a Viper mk4 than a Cobra Mk3 - quite a disappointment IMO - but being an anniversary ship it may be the ship that rule all other ships

I agree. I mean, I like it but it seems to be a Viper Mk5 to me.
Depends on the angle you look at it from, viewed from the front and to the side it looks much narrower than it is, it looks much more Cobra like from the back. I like that it takes design cues from both ships - it's still a DeLacy, after all and if it just looked a slightly bigger mk3, it would be boring. It looks distinctive, but still recognisable.
