Powerplay 2.0 compact UI mockup - can see 50% of the galactic map from here!

While there's a lot to like about the interface changes for Power Play 2.0, I've noticed that the UI is rather busy with stuff that helps get you introduced to the game mode. Unfortunately it can also obscure around 80% of the map and hide more information than it reveals.

So I put together a mock-up of how a more compact expert-mode might be implemented, giving the same level of control of the map data and also 50% screen estate of the systems affected.

Just to be clear I would want to see something like this implemented alongside the current UI, rather than replacing it.

The mockup has 4 screens:

1) An overall representation of the galactic map with both powerplay info screens
2) An undermined system (poor Archon!)
3) The detailed info for powers of the left-hand UI is relegated to a tooltip
4) The actions you can perform on a system for the right-hand UI is also relegated to a tooltip

Comments and feedback welcome!

A+ for effort

Still, I have to inform you that on the right side of UI you have created a new problem which will require player to make one more unnecessary click in the menu.
Also, without description of lines like "Exploited" "Fortified" and "Stronghold", those red/green/purple lines will be very confusing for new players.

On the left side however, you managed to combine 2 different tabs into one, which would be amazing to have in actual game.

This is why it is an expert-mode interface. Hence implemented alongside the existing UI. Everything is more compact and you know what the symbols mean. The current one still exists and is your default. You flip a settings switch when you're confident with the mechanics and terminology, and don't need any more hand-holding.

Where is the problem with the "extra click" on the right side?

The second tab on the left side doesn't appear to work well, and applies its filtering to all the selected powers (rather than a single power) so I felt it the power selection could be removed.

Thanks for the feedback!

Oh, so it's working alongside the current UI.. I have completely missed that. In that case it most certainly will work. It's up to FDev to figure out if it's even worth time codding. The "extra click" problem is that you need to click ACTIVITY to see to see which activity can give you merits, while in the current game you're only required to scroll a bit, and even then very rarely. But since it's alongside the current UI, it's not a big problem.

I think we all understand that it's hardly their priority right now.

Fair comment about it not being priority right now, but I'd like to plant the idea ;)

Yeah... that button could be a "on-hover" popup for mouse use and on high-light for keyboard/joypad/joystick. It could also remain the text below as it is at the moment, with a scroll bar being used to get full visibility. Lots of options here.

Cheers!
