What Location is this Artwork?

This is official artwork called Retail Plaza. The background has a logo of Faulcon DeLacy which is an independent corp. Is this on a Federal, Imperial or Alliance planet?

I don't see any giant golden statues of the royal family, so that probably rules out the Empire. Architecture looks a bit too angular, too. No obvious Federal flags or designs either but they might not be a major feature planet-side.

Other than the Delacy hologram it's difficult to pick out recognisable corporate branding of any sort which might give a clue - there's the big building display at the back, but I can't read it and the colours don't seem familiar.

The spiky shoulder pads and mid-height coat collars in the foreground certainly don't seem either Imperial or Federal in cut.

I'd guess an Independent system is most likely?

That's a lot of NPCs to be running at one time. It may well be artwork and not an in-game shot.
It is artwork, not in-game shot (OP says as much, if the visual style isn't an obvious cue... or the rather low flying T7 and other ship{s} - Viper? - on the right in the background). Assuming it is intended to be on an Earth-like world, couldn't be in-game anyway.

The question was what sort of planet this might be on, but there aren't really any specifics to go on that would tell. The eastern language characters (sorry for being non-specific but I am not familiar enough with Chinese, Japanese, Korean or other similar ones to tell) don't provide much of a pointer... neither does this artwork's use in various GalNet articles. For instance, I remember it being used as a banner for some articles (or at least one) relating to Joker's Deck. I don't think it is meant to be looked into that much, anyway.

I take your point and agree with your conclusions, but "artwork" (as opposed to "work of art") generally refers to pictorial elements of any publication, irrespective of type, to distinguish it from any associated text.

The text looks Chinese rather than Japanese, though the Blade Runner aesthetic is rather obvious.
I don't get any Imperial vibes from it though obviously high tech.
The characters are somewhat blurry but could read; Sun Think Gold. 阳思金

I'm guessing every Coriolis starport, in the ring around the mailslot, has the same retail plaza in the same place, with a slight variation in aesthetic themes for different industries in different ports. Thus, this is anywhere, everywhere, and nowhere.

This is not a Coriolis, because there are skyscrapers in the background. The style is similar to an Alliance city.

Chinese, Japanese, Korean or other similar ones…
There are large vertical Chinese characters (which are used by all three ethnic groups you mentioned, though Koreans less so). Beneath that horizontally and low-res appear to be an attempt at hiragana and katakana (two of the three scripts used by the Japanese). Doesn’t give us any clues to location though, just thought I’d clarify.
