Galnet: Aegis Urges High Alert for Anti-Xeno Forces

Aegis Urges High Alert for Anti-Xeno Forces

25 NOV 3310
Professor Alba Tesreau, Head of Aegis, has issued a warning for all anti-xeno fleets to remain on high alert.
The warning comes as human forces continue to push towards the last remaining Thargoid Titan, Cocijo. While victory over the Thargoid invasion force seems likely at this stage, Tesreau has urged defensive fleets not to become complacent.
“We have seen repeatedly that the Thargoid fleets are capable of surprising us when their defeat seems inevitable. The Proteus Wave incident in HIP 22460 is a perfect example of this – our confidence was such that Salvation’s celebratory speech was broadcast across the core systems only moments before he was killed by a Thargoid counterattack, along with thousands of military personnel.”
“Seo Jin-ae has - rather publicly - insisted that her recent medical emergency was the result of the Thargoids seeking to learn about her and, by extension, humanity as a whole. Should this prove true, we must assume that the Thargoids have new information to identify human targets, orchestrate attacks and more. In recent days, Seo stated that the Thargoid hive mind has altered its ‘tone’ in a way which has previously led to a change in Thargoid tactics.”
“With this in mind, I implore AX defensive forces protecting our ports and worlds from Thargoid assault to stay vigilant. Shinrarta Dezhra’s recent invasion proved the Thargoid fleet can still push behind the war’s front line.”
Aegis has received criticism over its perceived failure to protect Seo Jin-ae from Thargoid interception. Most notably, Imperial Fleet Admiral Denton Patreus commented that Seo should be ‘closely watched’ following her medical incident.

Do they want us to change the bulb?

Or at least target Power Leaders home ports/Capitols - Burning Stations/Ports - anyone?

I used to love stacking missions and collecting floating cargo or evacuating civilians from burning stations with ADC inoperative and plenty of heatsinks and limpets, then taking them to the rescue ship next door (you could almost smell the fires in the station with explosions all around)

I joined the war far too late, only recently with no chance of doing anything of any worth. I'd love it if this war was actually stepped up again.
Colonisation is around the corner (ish), it's time the bubble burned and we're forced to run into the black.

After poking around in Seo's brain they realized they can just have us do their work for them by offering some thargoid material care packages and a new module, so they are outsourcing the whole war.
Make it so, Frontier. This would be both hilarious and a masterstroke of the Thargoids. They could get a lot of support by offering a ship or two of theirs, just saying...

But, jokes aside, how exactly was Aegis even supposed to "stop" the Thargoids from using a link which nobody (presumably) yet knew until then was two-way and also no one fully understands exactly how it works? Oh wait, humans have complained for far less already. Nevermind. ... but that still doesn't mean it is Aegis' fault.

Cocijo becoming an upstart this or next Thursday, bets are open for takers. But you mostly just get popcorn.

Unbeknownst to humanity, the Thargoid threat was not what it appeared to be. Their goal was not humaity's extinction, but rather their salvation. The Thargoids know that in the depths of space lies an entity far more deadly than any other threat the galaxy is hiding, a threat that is awakened when a species reaches a level of technological advancement that threatens the entity's existence.

The Thargoids themseleves once came close to annihilation at the hands of this unseen enemy. They rebuilt their civilization after its near total collapse, and instead of repeating their mistake, the came up with new ways to live, new ways to explore the cosmos, they created organic ships and vehicles that the entity would not recognize as technology, and once more stretched out their hands to space.

The Thargoids goal was a simple one: to warn the other species in the galaxy of what lay hidden in the dark. But they were too late, and all they found were lost civilizations decimated by the entity. All other sentient life in the galaxy was no more, except for one. A small species who were taking their first steps beyond their own solar system. A joyous species, a warring species, a kind species, a cruel species, known as humanity.

The Thargoids dearest hope was to save the only other sentient life left in the galaxy, to guide these nascent spacefaring race to a path of peace and co-existence. Not just with the Thargoids, but with each other. For they saw a species divided, their conflicts escalating humanity's technology at pace, driving it closer and closer to the point where the entity would be awakened once more and doom would fall upon humanity.

Desperate the Thargoids reached out to humanity, to warn them, to help them, and how did humanity respond ...

YOU BLEW THEM ALL UP. Well thanks a bunch, you've killed us all, and for what some credits and a pretty paint job?! Well done slow handclap

I don't think they are here to save us. But I don't think they consider this a war, they are here for something (maybe something Salvation triggered) and we're just in the way. We're like the squirrels in the bird feeder.

Hey short of the guardians returning and becoming a power play force they would be more attractive than most of the current leaders. 😄
