Newcomer / Intro Are there legal and peaceful ways to upgrade ship and suit?

Hello,

I really enjoy Exobiology and Exploration. Now I wonder if there are legal ways to obtain things like Schematics and the other resources required in legal way, preferably non-combat. I don't really care so much about effectiveness, and would be fine to sink credits and time into obtaining these

So are there any ways at all?

Also how come that pretty much all of the missions in space stations are illegal, with NPCs trying to hook you with lines indicating that. Am I just in the wrong part of the galaxy?

Most Support Missions and Delivery missions can be completed peacefully and without breaking the law. (For suits)

There are a lot of legal ship missions.

Oh then maybe I just haven't found any giving stuff I need? Does that also include obtaining Suit Schematics?

Also Support/Delivery is On Foot from stations? Because I have never seen anything non-illegal?

All the ones with Suit Schemtatics and Graphene seem to be illegal.

Peaceful might hard, non-illegal is easier. Target anarchy settlements. Leave the lights on though, even if you kill everyone, so it does not shut down.

Might be hard, or there is no way? I just ask because I wanna know if there is any sense in skimming places for them.

EDIT: Finally found one in a settlement! :)

A good idea is to keep a close eye on the Great Pre-upgraded Gear Sharing is Caring thread.

Every Thargsday, the Pioneer Supplies shops are randomly stocked with various suits and weapons at G2 and G3 quality, sometimes with engineering pre-applied. Not all shops get the goodies- it's random - but you can build a nice wee collection that sets you up well.

I'd also suggest that you focus on missions - they give a good bunch of materials as rewards, including suit schematics. I never noticed whether the mission types were tied to the material rewards, but if 40 people have to die so I get my tungsten carbide, so be it.

Once any existing carrier bartender bug is worked out, then the hard to get goodies are likely to be available to buy. My main CMDR has about 44 that could be sold.

A bit of patience and the mission rewards will provide, along with loot from settlements.

Lots of ways to acquire and exchange materials required for upgrading ships.

Suits I am less sure about but as my main on foot activity is exobiology anything other than shopping for G3 gear with the modifications you think you need is unnecessary.

By the standards of the 21st century it is a pretty dystopian place and it seems like most missions are offered so that someone else gets their hands dirty if caught.

Hmmmm.... and what if I asked the drink slinger whether those under-the-table items had been obtained legally and peacefully?
