Fed up trying to redock my buggy!

Good for all of you who never have an issue docking your buggy to get back onto your ship…..keep your suggestions of “how easy it is” 🤨

Something similar to the Docking Indicator (the same UI could be utilised) takes away the frustration then anger at not being able to accomplish docking easily.

For now, I’ve given up leaving my ship via wheels, I play the game for fun, there’s No Fun in frustration!

Meanwhile, back to rebuilding my Binds file………🤔

When you are in the correct position, this lights up:

Also, in case you didn't know, the alignment of the SRV doesn't matter.
I say this because once I was with a friend and he was having a hard time getting the SRV back on the ship because he couldn't access underneath his ship in alignment.
I showed him that he can get under the bay facing any direction, and it will still work.
As matter of fact, I always re-dock at wonky angles to guess whether I will spin clockwise or anticlockwise when pulled back 🤭

It's funny that you can dock the SRV "backwards" into your ship, but when you redeploy it, it will have magically been turned the correct way... Go figure. :)
Well it gets folded up when you get out so presumably they just turn the package the right way round before it unfolds enough for you to get in.

Never knowingly met anyone who could make that claim.
Depending on the ship the terrain and my hangover it can be a right pain to dock it, sometimes it can be almost as hard to deploy the SRV.

Mine has only been used for mats gathering lately, exobiology being done on foot.

Good luck, take copies.

Yeah, I've had more than one occasion of having an issue of bumping the top of the SRV on the bottom of the ship a centimetre from the boarding area, even to the point of having to dismiss and recall the ship to a different landing site.

It is easy - when the game plays nice.

The problem is…….left a bit, right a bit, forward a bit, back a bit!
Without a reticule to show where you are in relation to the “pick up sweet point” one has absolutely no bloody idea where in the small box you’re off kilter!
I don't find that pickup area to be that small. I generally just drive under the ship, about the center line, and the indicator pretty much always lights up. Very rarely have I missed it completely. The area is relatively large.

Thanks, but if I didn’t have an issue with this I wouldn’t be posting.

No idea what to suggest. It really is that easy, just drive under and watch for the blue light. There should be no wiggling left or right. The ship will even pick you up if you are a bit off center.

How about using your mouse view to look up as you enter the underside of the ship? Use the old Mk1 eyeball.

Yeah I don't even stop, just get the board menu ready, put throttle low and press the button when it lets me, picks me up while I am still moving no matter what direction I am coming from.

Agree with those that say the alignment does not matter. Just drive under and hit the park brake "X" on keyboard. Push #3 to see the console and if it does not say board release the park brake for just a scosh until it says "board". Another thing to try is mouse free look to help line yourself up. When you see you are under the slot, stop and try to board. With some practice you can do this is about 3 seconds.

Another thing that was messing me up is to make sure your not overloaded on SRV cargo that will try to auto transfer to the ship. If you try to load more than your ship can hold it will not let you dock. Caveat to this...if for some reason you want to jettison your ship cargo to make room for the SRV cargo, you have to take off and land after jetison so it will register the ship cargo correctly reduced so you can board with the SRV. I'm speaking of "odyssey' version where you can walk from the SRV to the ship if needed and just ditch the cheap SRV if it comes to that.

What ship are you using?

They all have a hologram indicating where the cargo hatch is, you drive at that and watch for the Board Ship icon to light up.

The only one I’ve had “issues” with locating is the Anaconda because the cargo hatch is so far above the ground. - not to say other ships don’t have the issue, but I’ve not used a SRV on all the ships.
Ah Conda SRV docking is art form in headlock off.
