And me. I like the pig. A domestic pig belongs to a pack like this. The breed choice is weird, but it looks generic enough for me.Oh.
Ok. We all agree but you haha
Also, i just wanna quickly explain myself why i have been hating on the sifaka so much.Coquerel's Sifaka - I'm just gonna say it: I think this is the most overly criticized animal of the year.
To be frank if it was a kune kune or Vietnamese pot belly it would have a shot for my favorite animal of the year, but of all the bad breed choices its by far the worst for me as the other arnt just more common and interesting World wide but also in England with both breeds being popularised after beeing brought to England for petting zoos.So we all agree that the pig was a waste of a slot in the roster. Good.
Bro really treated the african leopard like it deserves to be. NiceI know I’m not really saying anything too different than anyone else, but this year really wasn’t the greatest haha. Honestly despite my gripes with last years packs, I had a much better top 10 list back then. So with that being said, all in all this year wasn’t the best for PZ IMO. Of the two packs we got, both have some pretty glaring issues. But enough being negative, let’s talk about what I liked!
Finally, here are all the animals I will rank out of the top 10.
- Call me crazy, but I think the African Spurred Tortoise was one of my favorite animals of the year. We haven’t got a habitat tortoise since launch, and this is a fantastic Zoo Animal to add into game. Basically a clone, I still love it regardless.
- Without shock, the Sussex Chicken I think was a great addition. It however, is not my #1. Though it has a lot of good going for it! Being the only bird of the year, and honestly not a bad choice of chicken breed for a barnyard pack. Despite being a bird, I don’t think it could ever be my #1. There are birds that I find more useful, and I have been wanting much more. I wouldn’t swap the chicken for anything though (that would fall to others from the same pack).
- In third is the Hamadryas Baboon which I was very excited to get. They had a beautiful exhibit at the North Carolina Zoo. I have wanted a baboon for awhile, and it’s nice getting another awesome African animal. What makes it #3 is honestly …. I would have preferred a South American monkey. For what it is, the baboon is easily in my top 3.
- I got to be honest, once we get past the top 3 my interest really begins to drop. So I have less to write for each one. For 4th I have the Spectacled Bear. Another South American rep, I think it is pretty cool. Not my preferred bear, but that’s my NA bias for ya haha.
- The Markhor is a great ungulate, and I’m excited to place by my snow leopards. It was also another animal closer to making one of my local zoos. Neat.
- I really enjoyed the Highland Cow. Yeah it’s small, and the hair isn’t perfect. Either way it was probably the second animal I was excited for Barnyard.
- From here my interest drops even more. The Alpaca was nice, good barnyard staple.
- I liked the Sheep, really can’t be bothered to remember the name of the breed. But whatever. To be honest the breed choice didn’t bother me much, it got the sheep vibes across well.
- The Sifaka is also cool, but from being a weird pick and not moving right all the time brings it down a lot.
- The Pallas Cat is a cute kitty, and good choice for ZooKeeper. The face is weird though, luckily the remaster looks great.
- The Donkey would have been close, except for 2 glaring issues in my opinion. One being that the miniature donkey I think would have been a better choice, two being why doesn’t a donkey sound like a donkey??????
- The DikDik just barely makes it out, but of all the animals in Zookeeper I was the least excited for this. Having a small antelope is great. But we got so many antelope species in the past couple years, I’m kind of sick of them. If they had to do an antelope I think they should have done the blackbuck. If it could have been anything else, I wish they picked anything else.
- The Goat exists. Another caprine, though I agree a Barnyard pack could use a goat breed. However the choice is super weird, I didn’t vibe with it. Unlike the sheep, the African Pygmy Goat was a much better choice, and far more common, breed to use. Why wouldn’t they use the animal synonymous with petting zoos? Beats me.
- Finally, the Pig. Like the goat, the pot belly pig was a far superior choice and one often seen in petting zoos. Like the DikDik, we had so many pigs in the past year I wasn’t exactly excited to get another one. Especially one that seems much more of a production animal than a zoo animal. I wish it was a duck or turkey instead. But whatever, can’t change the past now.
I completely forgot about the African leopard LMAOOOOOOOOOBro really treated the african leopard like it deserves to be. Nice
I got to be honest, I never noticed. I don’t think I’ve got them to bray before. I also don’t like to have my animals fight, so I would never notice.Okay so it's been discussed a lot - in your experience - do the donkeys heehaw at all? Because I just watched the fight compilation and they absolutely do several times at 1:02:58

So like can they or can they not? Tbh I can't recall them braying while in-game but I'll admit it's been a bit since I've last played with my farm zoo.
Ah, I thought this was just about DLC animals. I'll do edit my listing nowBro really treated the african leopard like it deserves to be. Nice
I bet if the nile croc was the anniversary animal people would be equally dissapointed about it.I completely forgot about the African leopard LMAOOOOOOOOO
It was so underwhelming of an Anniversary animal I actually couldn’t remember it. But yeah honorary last place to this guy. Yeah the model is fine, and it’s cool having the big five in game. But for the life of me, why did Frontier listen t to the African leopard people over:
- Birds
- New world monkey
- African crocs
- Deer
- Literally anything else but our second leopard species that isn’t really in zoos
Oh no way! Folks have been clamoring for an African crocodile - particularly the Nile - since launch. Not to mention, it's a ZT2 legacy pick!I bet if the nile croc was the anniversary animal people would be equally dissapointed about it.

(Not me though, i wanted the african leopard and i want the nile crocodile... I wish the anniversary was the rhea though)
Definitely would be fairly popular especially if it was as beautiful as the tortoiseOh no way! Folks have been clamoring for an African crocodile - particularly the Nile - since launch. Not to mention, it's a ZT2 legacy pick!
It would also be a much better model than the saltwater crocodile, which is another thing I don’t think the African leopard is good at. The Amur leopard looks good, so not only did they pick another cat, not even it’s own separate species, not even good for the diversity of the roster, it isn’t even that much of an improvement over the Amur leopard. I’ll still use the Amur leopard, if I’m not making a big 5 zoo I will probably never use it.Definitely would be fairly popular especially if it was as beautiful as the tortoise
Every time i mention the nile croc most people aay they don't want it, that they want the slender snouted crocodile or any other africa croc.Oh no way! Folks have been clamoring for an African crocodile - particularly the Nile - since launch. Not to mention, it's a ZT2 legacy pick!
The leopard looks beautiful and better than the amur one yet that doesn't make people like it more.Definitely would be fairly popular especially if it was as beautiful as the tortoise
