DLC 19 Speculation

There are always options for Mountains pack but i think we already have all the really popular ones so such a pack would be fill with second tier animals. Unless they stretch the concept and put the tree kangaroo in there. And i'm sure the himalayan monal.would be well recieved but is not an animal.i would say is as desired as the andean bear, markhor and baboon were.

Mountains to me has similar issues to islands. The best front runners are already in game.

For mountains the: snow leopard, markhor, takin, ibex, baboon, Wolverine, and Andean bear are already in game in one way or another.

For islands the: fossa, kiwi, little blue penguin, multiple lemurs, Tasmanian Devil, and even exhibit animals like the Antilles iguana are in game.

Is possible they could still make Mountains and Islands? Yeah sure, one of the main issues though is Frontier is running out of “big mammals” which they use to bulk up packs. Call me pessimistic, but I highly doubt Frontier would be willing to start filling packs with birds now. Even reptiles for that matter. Even ignoring birds, one of the issues is that the animals remaining may be more difficult than what Frontier is willing to do. I wouldn’t expect any innovating packs any time soon.

I think pre zookeeper a mountain pack was still a pretty viable option, both as an animal and a scenery pack.
But Zookeeper was essentially the mountain pack the community asked for with the tortoise and dik dik on top.

I mean there are still quite a few animals left that are somewhat requested which could fit a mountain pack, but imo the theme is in a pretty similar situation as an Islands pack: There is still the potential to make a really cool pack for this theme, but previous packs kinda took out all of the really popular headliner animals so the chance of us getting the theme is pretty much zero (sadly)

One of the worst things about it too is that Islands or Mountains could be a great way to get some awesome birds into the game.

Mountains: demoiselle crane, bar headed goose, Himalayan monal, Chilean flamingo, greater Rhea, other pheasant species like the golden pheasant.

Islands: Caribbean flamingo, brown pelican, nene, Kagu, Guam rail, and maybe even some other sea birds like the puffin.

As I said though, due to this reason I don’t think we could get these packs. Frontier treats birds like a pack highlight, not as a roster filler. Which is why I think we have this massive disparity. Whenever we get birds they are often the best parts of their packs. Even early birds in PZs history have aged very well. Clearly there is a passion for them. I’m just starting to think for whatever reason Frontier would never pick birds to “fill” a pack. Which honestly makes me sad, I would love some really basic birds.

Man an island theme could be a birds and reptile lovers candy land, big shame it will likely never see the light of day :D

Man it sure would be a great pack! Too bad Frontier doesn’t get the appeal! I can’t wait for the next PZ DLC to have 6/7 mammals or potentially even just be all mammals! I also love not getting any exhibit animals anymore! I’m so excited to build hype for a couple months again and have Frontier’s pack seem less interesting than the one we have been speculating!

You underestimate the potential of islands...
  1. Musk-Ox (Greenland)
  2. Hawaiian Goose (Hawaii)
  3. American Flamingo (Cuba)
  4. Japanese Raccoon Dog (Japan)
  5. Tree Kangaroo (Papua New Guinea)
  6. Blue Tree Monitor (Bantata)
  7. Southern Rockhopper Penguin (Kerguelen Islands, Falkland Islands)

What would you think about this pack?

Frontier Favourites Pack:
1. American black bear
2. Tibetan brown bear
3. North Chinese leopard
4. Guanaco
5. Ocelot
6. Bornean bearded pig
7. Olive baboon
E: any oddball insect

Just kidding

I think islands has alot of potential, i just think with stuff like the devil, kiwi, fossa and stuff already in game the islands theme is off the table for frontier, atleast for now. If they chose to milk PZ dry and do more than 1 or 2 further packs maybe.

Also is the tree monitor supposed to be a habitat animal? Because i can 100% guarantee we wont see those guys outside of the exhibit anytime soon

Yeah I think hoping for an Island pack is really silly. Tropical + Oceania + Southeast Asia Animal = island theme.

Plus both the Indonesian and Oceanian building sets cover what one traditionally imagines for islands.

Yeah but i think caribbean theme could still work for an islands pack, specially if it is a scenery pack but it would need to be mostly birds:

1. Tree kangaroo
2. Victoria crowned pigeon
3. Caribbean flamingo
4. Want to say nene... But three birds out of four feels very unlikely with Frontier making the choices so i'll say idk tanuki, despite not wanting that thing at all.
5. Ex: tuatara

What would you add for a Caribbean theme that's not already in-game? I'm finding it hard to think of anything that could be added that would make a set of 75+ pieces worthwhile.

Now that i'm building a zoo in a spanish colonial style i would say is possible to make a caribbean style zoo already for sure but we are missing a lot of small or detailed pieces. Like i use a lot of the classical and north african pieces but i look at reference pictures and it would be usefull to have a colonial / meditarranean scenery set to make it all.more cohesive and not having to use a million wood panels to make a stylish window. I don't thinks is a need like a modular / in grid mesh set is but it could add some nice stuff.

Call me crazy, but I still think one of the best things Coastal or Islands could do would be to add fish in the exhibit boxes. We already have two fully aquatic exhibit animals, and exhibit boxes are the size of huge fish tanks. I say cut the middle man and add some fish.

I’ve always thought some fish would be awesome in the exhibit boxes, but the lungfish and sea dragon mods made me want them more!

If Frontier isn’t gonna do WTE stuff anymore, just throw in some new stuff back in the boxes.

Yeah so when making a realistic biomes pack I would use the ones that have been used:
Grasslands -
Tropical -
Wetlands -
Arid -
Arctic -
Aquatic -

And then probably add Highlands or Temperate as most likely.
Grasslands - Secretary Bird
Tropical - Howler Monkey
Wetlands - Mandarin Duck
Arid - Patagonian Mara
Arctic - Musk Ox
Aquatic - Walrus
Taiga/Temperate - American Black Bear

Really, not a bad lineup overall and a lot of wanted species, but giving up the Coati was hard even though it's clear that a New World Monkey is more desperately needed. If I could remove one and double up on one, I'd add in the Coati for a second Tropical pick and remove the Walrus.

@NachoB, regarding the mountains, I could certainly be wrong, but I think behind the scenes there may have been a plan for it at some point, getting the Markhor, Pallas Cat, Spectacled Bear and H. Baboon all in one pack sure adds weight to that theory.
