Elite Dangerous | Cobra MK V Update - 12 December 2024

While I don't have a problem with the Control score debuff, the current numbers are very misleading because they are super geographically dependent. It's relatively easy to make hundreds of thousands or even millions of merits if systems have the right combination of geography and BGS state, but extremely difficult in other places. The geographic nature means that it's not really possible to move most of the map quickly, regardless.
Yes, definitely - another reason for Frontier to do more work on inter- and intra-activity balancing before taking the brakes off.

What's stopping you from choosing another Power? I understand a lot of people are sitting in some kind of Mahon.

Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed decals and ship IDs displaying with a border/background on some Mandalay paintjobs
  • Adjustments made to Mandalay Black Friday paintjob
  • Fixed missing hitcheck on Python Mk II Spacehawk spoiler
  • A fix has been implemented to resolve a number of issues related to carrier bartender transactions. However, transaction errors may still be encountered in some specific cases, please report any instances via the issue tracker and we will continue to investigate. https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/67143

Anything on the broken exploration data merits getting fixed, or if you think it's not broken then a comment explaining on what the frelling requirements are to get merits out of them? How about rare trading getting enabled again? Bunch of other issues with PP2.0 that people have been reporting?

Orbital lines fix? Okay that's easy for you to ignore, affecting only a small minority of players... but I am quite shocked how quickly you seem to have abandoned Powerplay to the bugs after the 2.0 launch.

Oooo, Titan in Sol, oooOOOooo. It's the same old AX combat just relocated to a different system... "bUt iT's SoL" ...yeah, so what? It's a cheap trick to get people to "care". Not that I believe we can fail the defense... or even if we could, that it'd actually matter; there's what, 20000 inhabited systems in the bubble? I really hope you have something planned other than the Titan going kablooey in checks watch 8 hours or so? I believe we were warned of some new stuff to happen? (Stargoids had been seen before, so moving a bit doesn't exactly count... (imho))

That's not particularly relevant. I don't really need to find another power, I'd just like it if I could put merits more easily where I'd like them to go doing activities that I like to do rather than going where the whims of BGS states tell me I will get the most profit and doing activities that Fdev hasn't figured out are still broken. In any case I finished my min/maxing this week.

I don't get it either, a lot of people complain about life pods and rare goods. I had no problem making them on the weekly mission.

But intelligence data, on the same weekly tasks do not work at all!

Although they made all modules available from any Power, I understand everyone's occupation is different. You have to choose the Power that suits you best, in any Power you can't get rewards for any actions.

Yes you don't get it.

They are left out of the merits. "We are assessing the situation".

The I don't think the map movement is that slow, and I can tell you if a significant number of players engaged with PP seriously it would be moving really fast. The issue is the tiny number of players engaging in organised power play, and that tiny number are not even playing that much if you see how easy it is to get in the top 10.

I haven't had a weekly I could be arsed to do for a while now, but the exploration data weekly and the rare goods delivery I had couple weeks ago did work... for the weekly, not for general merits.

Of course I'm pledged to LYR, he probably doesn't care about exploration data... based on this weeks weeklies he's more into... combat, and theft.

So I can mine minerals in ANY power and I'll get rewards for it?
Every lever works for every power, while some powers get bonuses the effects of geography and BGS states are much larger than the Power bonuses. I made most of my merits doing activities that AD does not get bonuses for, and are not advertised as activities for AD anywhere in game documentation, that are nevertheless very rewarding for the time expense.

I was given a weekly for intelligence last time, I still can't make it. I've turned in pages, and individual items that exceeded my limit. It's always 0.

I don't know what power you're pledged to but it absolutely is not easy to get into the top ten in the most popular powers. What's frustrating for me is getting 400k merits in a week on strategically useless systems due vs. 50k merits for the same amount of time in a strategically important system due to imbalances between PP activities

When selecting a system, it says at the bottom of the menu what you can do in that system to get rewards, since my power is not shown on the map to the right, I switched to another power and I can no longer do bounty hunting to get rewards.

You absolutely get merits for things that aren't on the list.
