Elite Dangerous | Cobra MK V Update - 12 December 2024

o7 cmdrs,
Has anyone had a problem with turning merits in recently? I have 2 weekly tasks: 1. sell exploration data at reinforcement system and 2. deliver biological samples to the Tollan system. I did both tasks correctly, but my weekly tasks bar didn't even move a single point. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

  • All shipyards will now stock one additional ship
I'm a bit confused.

I did check and all my ships are on my carrier. Is this just a typo om the "local ship storage capacity" label?

Oh fantastic! Fleet carrier inventory and storage is broken to the point of being completely useless and carrier bar transactions still don't work at all... but the Mandalay paint job is available on the store front. Talk about a shining example of where FDEV's priorities lay!!
The dog is dead. But he got a brandnew shiny collar!!!!

At a guess... 40 ships 'stored', plus the one you're currently in actively (i.e. 'docked', not 'stored', so to speak), makes 41?
Sounds plausible. I'll make a jump and see if a ship falls out :D

Or perhaps I'll try buying a cheapo ship and see if stores that too. It will probably influence my decision on buying a Cobra V as I like all my ships (and modules) in one place i.e. my portable space station.

There was that night you drunkenly purchased a ship, stowed it behind a wheely bin outside Morrisons with a traffic cone on the roof 'for safety's sake' and promptly forgot about it! Apparently the game didn't :ROFLMAO:

I’ve been using the Cobra MkV for runs on the Titan and one thing I’ve noticed that might be a bug - when flying in FAoff there are no thruster noises (that I can hear, at least).

Every other vessel I use has the pleasant little “fffft fffft” noises as you manoeuvre around, but with the MkV I can only hear the main rumbling engines when applying forward or reverse thrust.

Is this something anyone else is (not) hearing? I’ll submit an issue report if someone can confirm it’s not just my ears 😁👍

Nope, not even close. The bartender is unimportant. There are a lot of stuff that needs care and love, everyday. Not only on patch days. The servers don't run without care and money...
And the old Players gone or new players gone after two days. But right, the got the money from the new players maybe some ARX and this is the best. Care and Love = Green light on the server lights up? Troubleshooting is totally overrated.

I don't even have an FC but I still know that for anyone who does, the bartender is the first case of an actual game-breaking bug we've had for a while.

I guess it would un-break the current game if everyone decomm'd their FCs and went and spent ARX on an extreme-range galaxy-hopper instead ... is that what you meant?

I have an FC and the bartender bug isn’t breaking my game as I don’t even have a bartender and have barely used one since they appeared in Odyssey stations and never on an FC.

It is a serious issue for those who have built their game around Odyssey engineering and whatever else the bartender is useful for but it isn’t a universal game breaker. So despite it only affecting my game here on the forums I would be delighted to see it fixed.

The bartender is very important for players just starting out in their Ody engineering journey, much more so than for the people actually paying for the bartender who are largely putting the mats up for sale as a public service. We shouldn't be content with "well at least the servers aren't down", it's not unreasonable to expect the game to be playable in all aspects.

What?!? Are you saying that without the bartender you cannot attack cocijo? That you cannot explore the galaxy? That you cannot mine precious materials in beatiful rings?
That would be game-breaking bugs.

I remember when the new exploration update (late 2018) introduced first mapped tags & as soon as the servers came back online there was a mad rush to tag everything in the bubble. The servers kept falling over & the community managers were pleading with people to give it time and the forum clowns were posting 'never play on patch day' memes but we all kept scrambling to log back in & map & sell as much as we could coz we all knew someone else would get them if we didn't do it ourselves.

Now that was game breaking, and it was a lot of fun :D

It breaks the Odyssey engineering, and therefore a lot of Odyssey only gameloops. So it breaks Odyssey. And if you're used to making credits the Odyssey way, then it breaks your ability to buy your way around the engineering too, so yes, it does affect Cocijo for those players.

It doesn't break the original sandbox exploration game, I agree.

Just for clarity here it's usually me posting comments that highlight how minor a particular bug is in the wider scheme of things. For me to describe it as game-breaking it has to be pretty bad.
