How do I tell if a newly scanned world is terraformable when in VR?

I am having a hell of a time finding information on this.

When in VR, the right-hand icons on the system map do not show and I cannot find any way to access the information for them normally. I can access planetary information if the planet is landable by accessing the surface map from the navigation windows, but if the planet is not landable then I have no way to access the planet information that shows whether or not it is terraformable.

My current method is having EDSM open in a browser and checking the celestial bodies list after doing my FSS scans but that is rather annoying and regularly takes me out of the game. What exactly am I missing? The dearth of information online about this being an issue suggests to me that I have just overlooked an option.

I still don't know why this happens in VR too. My work around is to use Elite Observatory I EDDiscovery which will give you audio to which planets are terraformable + high value.

I did see some mention of that though I would prefer a visual cue rather than something that just gives me an audio notification that I need to remember once I finish scanning the entire system.

If these are the icons I think you mean, they should appear when you select a body -- just not on "mouse hover".

Umm, move the cursor to it and press your mapped button?

Are you perhaps using mouse and keyboard? The game does a poor job of aligning mouse pointer with the maps in VR -- it works with a mono projection for a 2D screen, but does not care to make things line up between the observer and objects when operating in 3D; Therefore it tends to be easier to give up on the mouse pointer and use sticks (...or keys) instead, even if it is significantly clunkier to sluggishly "drive" the cursor around, than simply pointing instantly, as one do with the mouse.

I use a HOTAS. The POV hat is used for moving through menu options but I have no ability to select celestial bodies with it.

I can, with some trouble, use the mouse to select celestial bodies but even when I do so I get no option to see information. All that I am able to do is hold-click to target it.

I can only see planetary information when I choose "surface map" from the navigation window. When I do that it goes to the system map and shows the planet close-up. I can actually see a planet information icon on the left side along with the other icons there, but that icon is nowhere to be seen unless I enter the system map through that specific method, which means that I cannot use it for non-landable bodies.

Hmm, no three-circle-segments reticle that translates with your flightstick (...or other chosen analogue input)?

It should share input bindings with the galaxy map, under general controls (EDIT: Personally, I've got zoom on the stick twist axis, which makes translateXY-and-zoom a single hand operation, and you traverse the maps faster, zoomed out).

That was the issue. I needed to map some HOTAS controls to maneuver through the system map.

The galaxy map is unusable with the HOTAS in general so I never bothered setting it up.

Thank you for your assistance.

I am using OVR toolkit to put the EDD window just below the bottom left HUD, with transparency and the auto-hide it blends really nicely with the game
