10 Years of Elite Dangerous

If you click on Update Preferences in the last newsletter you received, you'll see a list of all Frontier (and Foundry) games. EXCEPT Elite. 🤷‍♂️
I get a DNS error on the update preferences, I guess there have been changes to the system and some people just got left off the new one 🤷‍♂️

Of (in the meantime) 14 accounts from which about half of them are forwarded to my main mailadress I only got 1 (!) of those mails... just sayin'...
Didn't check the mail of the other "Fueltank-accounts" though, but those are not too interesting to me...

But for my main and one of my (main) alt commanders I didn't get that mail. Oh and I'm in the same boat as many here, newsletters stopped some time ago, too.

Hey folks,

If you didn't receive the email on your playtime it likely means one of the following:
1) You are not subscribed to the Elite Dangerous newsletter/Mailing List
2) You haven't played enough to generate a lot of data (Unlikely for the forums I know)
3) Your inbox wouldn't accept the email (i.e. Spam filters, inbox full, sticking post it notes on your monitor doesn't count as email)

Unfortunately if you did not receive an email and haven't received new emails after sorting any issues with your inbox settings, then we are unable to resend them.
Dear Paul
1) You are not subscribed to the Elite Dangerous newsletter/Mailing List : I confirm that I have been a subscriber to the news and newsletters for 10 years (my last newsletter bellow)
2) You haven't played enough to generate a lot of data (Unlikely for the forums I know): 400+h this year and over 5000 hours in all.
3) Your inbox wouldn't accept the email (i.e. Spam filters, inbox full, sticking post it notes on your monitor doesn't count as email) My email address has never changed (gmail), I have nothing in my spam folder and I receive all your other emails.

I'm very disappointed, but I would have liked to have taken advantage of this.
Note: I haven't received anything on any of my other 2 active accounts.... I don't think the problem is on my side.

Fly safe

Your last newsletter in my box

Adding myself to the list of folks who haven’t received this. I’ve checked my email subscription settings and I am set up to receive Elite emails, although the last ED Newsletter I received was #364 in October 2023. Like many I just assumed these were no longer being sent after that :(

I’ve also checked my email filtering and none would prevent this coming through, and I definitely should have enough data as playing since launch 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just dropping by to mention;

My friend and I are both subscribed to the email newsletter, and have been playing for years. On checking the update newsletter preferences page, we both have the exact same newsletter settings (marketing unchecked, news & updates checked, offers checked). Only difference; I received the email yesterday, while my friend hasn't received an email from Frontier in over a year. There is nothing to be found in the spam folder for my friend either, nor are there any added filters or blocked addresses in their email client that would exclude it.

I do hope this can be fixed.
It would be tragic for a lovely idea like this to generate unhappiness.
Both my main and (almost unused) alt accounts got the email, although the one for the alt was basically empty (no actual stats in it, presumably due to lack of activity).

I agree that it's tricky to navigate the email prefs stuff.

Hi folks,
We are looking into this issue. If you are not 100% sure (or just wish to make sure) if you are subscribed to Elite Dangerous newsletters please can you fill in the 'Keep in Touch' bit on the website. Even if you are sure you have done this before it won't hurt to do it again.
Thanks! Would be amazing to get the email! Resubscribed just in case. (Although never knowingly unsubscribed either)

I was subscribed and just noticed that I stopped receiving newsletters years ago (in 2021).
The last email I can see in my inbox is "Elite Dangerous #324 newsletter".
I did not unsubscribe, I see no email indicating that I did.

I just tried clicking that "manage preferences" link but the page throws an error ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH. (https://email.elitedangerous.com/k/[redacted])

Looking through the emails it seems like I had similar issue in 2019 where I had to message support because I was not getting the newsletter despite Frontier Store saying I'm subscribed.

Why do I need to allow marketing etc cookies to submit a form? :( I want to make sure I get the newsletter, but I do not appreciate my online activity tracked and uniquely identified.

Thanks for looking into it. Just re-submitted this (and for 2 alts). It's odd it shows me the form again, when I'd actually re-submitted this yesterday too though...

This can only be updated if marketing cookies are accepted. There is no way to separate newsletters from marketing offers. Could be a clue to the issue, I never accept marketing or 3rd party cookies from any website

So I have a slightly unique issue. I originally registered my Frontier account with one email. But I changed my email on my Frontier account (but due to aliases on Outlook, I still had access to my old email in the same). However I forgot to change my email for the newsletter (surprised you couldn't track that). So it sounds like I won't be getting my stats. Is there nothing in the servers to track email address history for accounts, and to thus have realised "Oh wait, that was linked to a Frontier account that had the email changed, they probably still want the stats"? I know I'm sitting on an edge case scenario here, so I've probably lost my chance at getting my stats (if there was any), but that still sucks...

For reference, I did get the 10 year anniversary email, but there was no link to any stats. I assume because the marketing server assumed I had no Frontier account when I do, because of this frustrating edge case (I can already hear Paul sweating over this edge case)

sounds like subscribing with your new email address like Paul suggested might fix it? You got marketing email on old, but no stats as it didn't link to an existing account. If you get on mailing list with new email, and if FDev are able to re-process it, you should get another email that'll link to your account? Got to be worth a try at least!
