Have gun will travel, but where are the surface CZs?

So I know I'm doing it wrong - I use the galaxy map to filter for war or civil war. I fly to the system.

In most cases, no surface CZs.

How should I perform my search differently?

Yeah, higher population systems are the most likely to have them. There's no real trick to it otherwise. Surface CZs are my standard method of collecting weekly arx. I just take shuttles to various systems at war until I find one with high intensity zones. A couple hours of that and I'm free to do all the non-arx-productive things that I like for the rest of the week.

Thanks. I've actually been doing exactly that, but have been coming up dry. Wish there was a bubble wide search tool for this.

An ongoing war doesn't necessarily mean there are going to be surface CZs. The first condition is, of course, having Odyssey settlement present. The second is to have at least one faction in the war (or both for higher chance at a selection of the difficulties) owning a minimum of one.

So, if you're rather unlucky and the warring factions have no Odyssey settlements to their name, if they are present...

I find ground CZs every week. It's a rare day if it takes more than an hour, and I'm kinda fussy about the places I fight in. I avoid Tourism for example, the layouts of those places are usually horrible. I don't think high pop is necessary, it's more about how many bodies are in the system. The more bodies the more settlements (mining economies with lots of gas giants tend to be good), though I also try to avoid systems with less then 1M pop (mainly because I also want a large station for the Frontline office).

There is a workaround for getting max arx very quickly.

I use inara, go for the a system with a high number of surface conflicts but also check that there's a port with frontline solutions so I can quickly see which ones are High. I haven't found an easier way to tell, and happy to be told there is one
