(Almost) a month without expansions - request for FDev communication

At the moment there are 9977 system/faction combinations in active expansion state based on EDSM data dumps (2280 in recovery and 9526 in pending). This is 108 more active expansions in 3rd records than on the beginning of December. The minimal difference is due to new discovery of old data and not because of changes ever since. Since the 28th of November there were no reports of new pending expansions starting, pending expansions progressing to active ones and active ones concluding.

There are many potential legitimate reasons why expansions could be frozen. Significant influence swings, almost exclusively upwards in many systems that challenged many player factions even in keeping expansions in check. The upcoming colonisation that might involve the necessity of readjusting expansions. The complexity of PP2 that could also add some bugs. All of these might be undrestandable.

That said BGS is an are where the hard and continuous efforts of great many commanders yield the results and satisfaction of the members of our community of communities. It is important to ensure that those hard efforts are directed towards a meaningful direction. For this reason it is important to see the reason behind freezing expansions and what to expect next. It is therefore kindly requested that the future plans regarding expansions to be revealed by Frontier.

Raised on Dec 20th? Just be aware that for many IT teams in the UK this tends to be a period of skeleton staff only for the next two weeks.

Merry Xmas.

Missions inf also not working. Both issue on issue tracker. BGS unplayable at the moment, not sure if that was what fdev intended.... RIP BGS.

Fairly sure it won't be fixed until after the colonisation update is ready for deployment which while understandably annoying, makes a certain sense.

Honestly the reasons for the pause of expansions don't really matter one bit. It could be a bug. It could be them pausing them on purpose for a variety of reasons.

But the rather unacceptable part is that they haven't communicated anything about it. Why not just come out and say hey, a bug caused the expansions to lock up, we're looking into it? Or hey, we did it on purpose because reasons?

Just come out and say something. Communicate, it's okay. Whatever the reason I think players will understand, as long as you give one. Otherwise it really does just feel like someone pressed a button that disabled them and then the entire company just kind of forgot about it, and this just continues to build more and more frustration within the playerbase.

This post by Cambarus isn't even a demand for a fix, just a request for communication. Even with a skeleton crew, even with everyone busy in the company with a million things, it takes an intern 5 minutes to write up something.

Same deal here we have been stuck in pending expansion since the 8th, had no idea this was a widespread bug till seeing this. Definitely could at least use a word from fdev lol.

Spent a long time setting up a large population system only to have it kiboshed by this. Not to mention the mission board being totally defunct for BGS in certain occasions. I wish I could invoice FDev for wasted time. So frustrating that they burn a large portion of the people who keep their lights on.

I've spent a lot more time doing other things lately. If that's what they want then so be it. 🤷‍♂️

What does this have to do with an issue that has been around since at least late October? Merry Whitsuntide! OP was polite and didn't make any demands about a timescale for an answer.

The issue was first raised December 20th. It is not Fdevs fault nobody thought to raise the issue before then.
